Chairman Kirsop called the regular December meeting of the Planning Commission to order at 8:10 P.M. Commissioners in attendance were Avery, Bowen, Sowinski, and Welsh. Roger Blaylock and Fred Satterstrom were present representing the Planning Division staff. MOTION BY MR. BOWEN AND SECONDED BY MR. WELSH TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR NOVEMBER MEETING AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED. MOTION BY MRS. AVERY AND SECONDED BY MR. SOWINSKI TO APPROVE THE NOTES OF THE 14 SEP- TEMBER, 12 OCTOBER AND 9 NOVEMBER 1978 WORK MEETINGS AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED. CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS City of Tukwila 6200 Southcenter Boulevard Tukwila Washington 98188 Edgar D. Bauch, Mayor Mr. Satterstrom informed the Planning Commission that the Ehmke -Kato rezone had even- tually been approved by the City Council upon reconsideration. The new site plan sub- mitted for reconsideration indicated 102 units on the property, 12 less than the Com- mission's recommendation. Mr. Satterstrom also informed the Commissioners that 62nd Avenue South was going to be improved by L.I.D. during 1979 and that formation of the L.I.D. has begun. .NTDSCAPE PLAN: SEGALE BUILDING #761 PLANNING COMMISSION Mrs. Avery excused herself from the proceedings due to a conflict of interest on this matter. Mr. Blaylock read the staff report and explained the displayed drawings. Mr. Blaylock explained that the master landscape plan for Segale Buisness Park had contemplated street trees at 40' on- center. Further stated that approximately one -half of the pro- posed landscaping has been planted already. Mr. George Hull, representing the applicant, explained the distances between street trees. MOTION BY MR. WELSH AND SECONDED BY MR. SOWINSKI TO APPROVE THE PROPOSED LANDSCAPE PLAN WITH THE STREET TREES SPACED AS PLANTED AND THAT ALL PLANTING AREAS BE IRRIGATED IN AN ACCEPTABLE MANNER (UNDERGROUND). MOTION CARRIED. M2-5 A1 Park vjesi' CITY OF TUKWILA PLANNING DIVISION PLANNING COMMISSION STAFF REPORT 20 December 1978 8:00 P.M. AGENDA ITEM \14'< LANDSCAPE PLAN: SEGALE BUSINESS PARK BUILDING #761 A detailed landscape plan, prepared by Prentice Nursery and Decorating Com- pany, has been submitted for Segale Business Park Building #761 located at 18125 Andover Park West. The proposed planting plan for the bed surrounding the building includes 13 pink flowering dogweed trees spaced around the building. Shore pines (dense small pine) and Mugho pines (shrubby, symmetrical, low growing pine) are intermixed with the dogwoods and a specimen Shore pine is proposed for the northeast corner. Two species of rhododendron are included among the trees and many Japanese Holly bushes (dense, erect, compact shrub) are spread through- out the bed. The building is surrounded by parking for 89 vehicles which in turn surrounded on 3 sides by planting. The south border is defined by a row of Western Red Cedar trees spaced 5 feet apart. In the southwest corner a planting bed separates parking from Building #731 next door. The planting proposed for that bed includes 3 Douglas Firs, 3 specimen rhododendrons and several Japanese Holly bushes spread throughout. A waste container and an outdoor employees lounge are also proposed in that corner. The north and east property edges face the street and are bordered by a.5 foot strip of lawn next to the curb and a 5 foot sidewalk just inside the lawn. Eight London Plane trees (large deciduous tree with maple like leaves) are spaced at 45 foot intervals and are centered between the lawn and the sidewalk. Old gold junipers (compact shrub) form a border within the sidewalk and the northwest, northeast, and southeast corners are defined by clusters of Staghorn Sumacs (deciduous shrub). Staff recommends the Commission approve the landscape plan with the following conditions: 1. All grouped trees be spaced no more than 40' apart on center. 2.
