Mayor Van Dusen called the Regular meeting of the Tukwila City
Council to order and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

MOVED BY MORIWAKI, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, THAT COUNCIL PRESIDENT

Mayor Van Dusen introduced Mr. Saeki, newspaper reporter, who is
here from Sister City Ikawa -Cho. He is writing a series of
articles.
Ann Crain, audience, stated the gardening club is planting a tree
at Hazelnut Park on April 12 at 11 a.m. The public is invited
to attend.
Daniel Arigonne, Duwamish Club, presented pictures to the Mayor
depicting the signing of the Fire District #1 annexation.

We do not want any "last minutes" surprises.
Jim Tracy, King County Parks Planning Department, stated King
County will act as agent for the building permits that have not
been completed.
Councilmember Harris requested that paragraph 3 beginning
"Whereas" be deleted.

Councilmember Moriwaki requested that lines 1 and 2 of
Section 1 read: "The City of Tukwila adopts King County's
development regulations for the permits..." and that
Section 6 read: "This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect as of the date the interlocal agreement is approved.
Once the permits on Exhibit A have been completed, this
ordinance will become null and void."

City Attorney Colgrove read an ordinance of the City of
Tukwila, Washington, adopting King County development regulations
for specific permit applications for real property commonly
known as the Fire District #1 annexation area and authorizing
King County to continue to review, approve, inspect and
final those building permits, and declaring an emergency by
title only.

ORDINANCE #1511 AS READ AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
MOVED BY MORIWAKI, SECONDED BY ROBERTSON, THAT SECTION 2, FIRST
SENTENCE READ: "ONLY THOSE BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATIONS FILED
BEFORE MARCH 31, 1989 AND INADVERTENTLY NOT INCLUDED IN
EXHIBIT A (PENDING APPLICATIONS AT KING COUNTY, FIRE DISTRICT
#1 ANNEXATION) OR THOSE ANCILLARY PERMITS NECESSARY FOR THE

City Attorney Colgrove stated this item was placed on the
agenda at his request.

CARRIED.

BE HELD ON APRIL 10, 1989 PRIOR TO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
MEETING SO THIS MATTER CAN BE CONSIDERED. MOTION CARRIED.
Mayor Van Dusen stated information will be distributed to
the Councilmembers prior to next week's public hearing and
discussion.
John McFarland, City Administrator, stated it is time for the
annual Spring Cleanup the City has sponsored for quite a number
of years. It is usually held the last two weeks in April.
This year including the annexed area it will cost approximately
$33,000. Do we want both a spring and fall cleanup or just
one or the other?
Councilmember Bauch said we have told the annexed areas they
will not have a reduction in services. Both cleanups are
needed.
John McFarland stated the spring cleanup would be April 22
through April 30.
An OPen House for new residents and the current residents
will be held on April 19, 1989 at the City Hall.
Mayor Van Dusen reported a "Welcome to Tukwila" sign is being
designed.
City Attorney Colgrove reported the hearing on the case of
World Wide Video is set for May 3.
