Sign Review - ARCO (Southcenter Boulevard)
Mr. Hansen read staff comments noting the Commission had
denied the request last month but representatives of
ARCO had been unable to attend And requested the matter
be placed before the Commission for reconsideration.
Mr. Kenneth Flynn, ARCO, stated that a portion of the sign
is blocked by the canopy and wants to raise, lower,
or move the sign out just enough to make the sign
visible.
Mr. Hansen, Staff, suggested lowering the sign as little
as 18 to 24 inches will make the entire sign visible.
Mr. Bob Schaeffer, ARCO, stated lowering the sign will
place it in jeopardy due to low clearance factor.
Commission and ARCO representatives discussed amenities
of ground level sign.
Motion by Mr. Lamb, seconded by Mrs. Harris and carried
to table this matter to allow the applicant to re- submit .
a sign of ground level design.
Chairman Mettler, at this time, asked the Commission what
it's desire was regarding the regular December meeting.
Motion by Mr. Saul, seconded by Mrs. • Harris and carried
that in light of the special meeting to be held on
20 December 1973 to conduct a Public Hearing for City
Hall sites and the possibility of continuing that Public
' Hearing, that the regular December meeting NOT be held
and the agenda be incorporated with the regular January
meeting.

Building Sign
Mr. Keever moved that a letter be sent to the Messenger
Sign Co. outlining the inadequacies in the plans as
submitted. There is no way to determine from the plans
if the sign meets the Protective Covenants or City of
Tukwila standards. The Sign Co. is to be directed
to re- submit a revised drawing at the next A.C.C.
meeting.
Mr. McCurdy seconded the motion and it passed unan-
imously.
4. SHASTA BEVERAGE CO.
Outdoor Storage Dock
Lengthy discussion ensued as to the rear yard coverage
area as stated in the Protective Covenants. It was
generally agreed that the configuration as proposed
was probably esthetically more pleasing than a long
narrow dock extending northerly from the building.
Mr. Commeree presented the plans and stated that
the dock will be constructed in order to accommodate
future building expansion.
Mr. McCurdy moved to accept the plans as presented
provided that there be a decorative fence at least six
(6) feet in height mounted on top of the exposed
edges of the dock and that the dock be included in
the future building expansion area, also that all
outdoor materials be stored within the confines of the
fenced area and that the outdoor storage materials be
maintained to a height less than that of the fence.
