This letter is a follow -up to our phone conversation on December 15. As
I told you this is a revision to a 1973 permit, since shoreline permits are
only valid for 5 years you can not revise an expired permit.
After checking further I found out the proposed changes to WAC 173 -14
will not apply. I have enclosed a copy for your information.
Since the original permit has expired MacDonald Miller Co. will need to
apply for a new permit.
If you have any further questions please call me at 459 - 6763.

Attention: Architectural Review Board Members
Subject: 18201 Olympic Avenue South
Dear Sirs,
I am submitting an application for architectural review of the mechanical
unit placed on the roof at 18201 Olympic Avenue South.
Since this space exists within the shoreline environment, all mechanical
equipment needs to be screened from view. It is not my intent here to
neglect my responsibilities, but only to show that if screening is not
necessary due to the unit being out of sight, a substantial savings may be
realized both to the owner and the tenant.
I have enclosed photographs taken from various locations around the north
end of the building and have visited the site personally to assure that this
unit cannot be seen from the surrounding walkways and pedestrian paths.
Our Engineering Department specifically showed the unit located a minimum
of 20 feet from the north edge of the building on our drawings so it could
not be seen from these areas. It is our opinion that the unit cannot be
seen; therefore, screening should not be required.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you have any further
questions, please feel free to call.

Dear Mr. Blean:
PLANNING DEPARTMENT
This office is in the process of reviewing your application
for a Shoreline Management Permit for your proposed project
to be located south of South 180th Street and west of the
West Valley Highway.
During our review, we have been waiting to receive the
Affidavit of Publication as required in the application
instructions. As this item is an important part of the
basic application, we request it be supplied to this office
so that it may be included with the rest of the application.
Furthermore, the Shoreline Management Act of 1971 requires
the publication of a notice informing the general public
of an application for Shoreline Permit. The local juris-
diction must hold the application for at least thirty (30)
days from the last date of publication of the notice.
This is to allow for review and any comments from the
general public.
As pointed out, the Affidavit of Publication is an impor-
tant part of the application and this office trusts you
will supply it at your earliest convenience.
