I have analyzed the existing roof structure of the Silo
Store in Tukwila, WA for the installation of a ballasted 1.8
meter antenna.
The structure of this roof is quite light and does not have
the capacity to support the antenna and ballast. I can
support the antenna weight and the loads imposed by wind
forces; however, the ballast load would overstress many of
the members.
Therefore I have designed and detailed a method of securing
the antenna to the roof to withstand the design loads as
specified in the 1985 Uniform Building Code. This
requirement is for an 80 MPH wind force with Exposure C and
a factor of safety of 1.5 against overturning.
Enclosed are my details for this installation which you
should submit to the building departmant at the time you
apply for a permit.
If you or they require that these sketches be on a single
sheet, we can "sticky back" the details on a sheet and stamp
that sheet for your submittal.
If we can be of further service during the permit process,
or during the erection of the antenna, please call us.
