Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review. VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coord!nator at 433 -1851 prior to submitting application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules. BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, or contractor licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal. EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition). No application shall be extended more than once. Material Description: 1. BRAI membrane consists of a tough, non -woven polyester fabric impregnated on both sides with BRAI modified bitumen. 2. Base Sheet: The base sheet is to be an asphalt saturated or poly- mer modified fiberglass base sheet. The base sheet may either be Mechanically attached or fully adhered in hot asphalt. Intec Base or Intec Modified Base is rec- ommended. 3. Insulation: We recommend a prefaced insulation (see General Requirements Pages 5.7). Type of Deck: 1. Poured concrete _ 2. Double 1', Prestressed T prefabricated concrete, and precast concrete. If BRAI membrane is to be used on this type of deck a mechanically fastened base sheet must be used. See General Requirements. Procedure: 1. The General Requirements on Pages 5a are a part of this specification and must be adhered to where appli- cable. Application: DANGER FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY Application of modified bitumen products manufacture and distributed by U.S. Intec, Inc. requires the use of an open flame, and/or an electrical heating device. IMPROPER USE OF BRAI PRODUCTS AND THESE APPLICATION DEVICES CAN RESULT IN SEVERE BURNS, ELECTRI- k2 BASE SHEET MECHANICALLY FASTENED D L OR APPLIED IN HOT ASPHALT. CAL SHOCK AND /OR OTHER PHYSICAL INJURY, AS WELL AS DAMAGE 'ID PROPERTY. In order to insure your safety and the safe use of these products and application devices, your application procedures must conform to the safety precautions and procedural safeguards outlined on Page 46 of this specification manual. Do not begin applica- tion of these products until you have read and fully under- stand all procedures and precautions set forth on Page 46. 1. The insulation board must be mechanically attached or fully adhered in hot asphalt according to manufac- turer recommendation. All insulation board seams must be staggered and applied perpendicular to the roof slope. 2. Over the surface of the insulation board install one ply of base sheet. The base sheet is to be mechanically fas- tened as per the fastening specifications on Pages 19- 21 of this book. Lap each base sheet two inches (2 "). 3. Install BRAI membrane over entire surface of base sheet. The BRAI membrane must be applied perpen- dicular to the roof slope and heat welded in place as per the General Requirements. Coating /Ballast A. Coating 1. A roof coating must be applied as per coating manu- facturer specifications. B. Ballast • 1. A cold applied emulsion installed as per the manufac- turer specifications must be used to install the ballast. 2. The ballast must be round, smooth river bottom gravel applied in the wet emulsion at a rate of 400 lbs per 100 sq. ft. (see General Requirements). 3.
