Re: Handleman & Co. remodel.
Per the above referenced project, please note the following requirements:
1. Fire hose rack coverage must be maintained per City Ordinance #730.
2. The building must retain its feature of being fully sprinklered,
including office areas. Plans for modification to the sprinkler
system shall be approved by the Washington Survey & Rating Bureau and
the Tukwila Fire Dept.
3. Portable fire extinguishers are required. (3) 21/2 gallon pressurized
water extinguishers in the warehouse, (1) 211 gallon pressurized water
in the office area, and (1) 20 B -C dry chemical extinguisher hung
outside the lunchroom door. These must be hung so that the top of
the extinguisher is not higher than 60 inches from the floor. Also
they shall be located in plain sight, on a red background (plywood
board or similar material), and shall be identified by signs,stating
"FIRE EXTINGUISHER ". These requirements are per OSHA Standards.
Additional extinguishers may be required depending upon the contents
'and /or operation within the building.
4. All doors and exits shall be marked per OSHA Section 1910.37(q).
5. A gas heating permit is required from the fire department for the
installation of gas heating appliances. The fee is $4.00 and must
be obtained before installation.
6. Please have the occupant furnish the City of Tukwila with a statement
of his intended operation 'and proposed contents of the building.
