Dear Mr. Nielsen:
It has come to the attention of this office the filling of accreted land
along the East bank of the Green River and within. Government Lot #10
is within the jurisdiction of the City of Tukwila.
In accordance with the Shoreline Management Act of 1971, it is required
that you apply to the local jurisdiction for a Shoreline Management
Substantial Development Permit. Further, in accordance with Tukwila
Ordinance #751, this project will also require the preparation of
an Environmental Impact Statement to be reviewed by all concerned .
agencies up to and including the State level. This process is required
in order to comply with both the National and State Environmental
Policy Acts.
While it is the responsibility of each and every local jurisdiction to
administrate all applicable legislation conceived to preserve the
health, safety and welfare of the general public, an equal responsibility
lies with each and every individual to assist the governing agency to
comply with legislation in order to preserve the health, safety
and welfare of the total of each and every individual.
We would appreciate your cooperation in complying with the afore—
mentioned Federal, State and local regulations regarding your project.
