APPLICATION SUBMITTAL In order to ensure that your application is accepted for plan review, please make sure to fill out the
application completely and follow the plan submittal checklist on the reverse side of this form. Handouts are available at
the Building counter which provide more detailed information on application and plan submittal requirements.
Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review.
VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of
Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting
application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and Is
subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules.
BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, or contractor
licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this
permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal.
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall
expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180
days upon written request by the applicant as defined In Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition).
No application shall be extended more than once.

THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS WILL APPLY TO RE -ROOF PERMITS:
1. All re- roofing projects will be accomplished in compliance with
Appendix Chapter 32 of the Uniform Building Code (UBC).
2. Inspections:
A. New roof coverings shall not be applied without first
obtaining a pre- roofing inspection from the Building
Division and written approval from the Building Inspector.
The pre - roofing inspection shall pay particular attention to
evidence of accumulation of water. Where extensive ponding
of water is apparent, an analysis of the roof structure for
compliance with Section 3207, UBC, shall be made and
corrective measures, such as relocation of roof drains or
scuppers, resloping of the roof or structural changes, shall
be accomplished. An inspection covering the above listed
topics prepared by a qualified special inspector, as
determined by the Building Official, may be accepted in lieu
of the pre - inspection by the Building Inspector.
B. A final inspection and approval shall be obtained from the
Building Division when the re- roofing is complete. As a
condition of the final inspection for roofs that require a
fire retardant roof covering under the provisions of Table
32 -A, 1988 UBC, the roof installer shall provide the
inspector with a written statement indicating the following
(or something similar):

We have reviewed our original calculations for the two
buildings referenced above to ascertain whether they can be
safely reroofed without removal of the original roofing.
Our review showed that we used a dead load of 2.20 psf for
the original roofing plus 1.0 psf for insulation and 1.60
psf for miscellaneous loads. This totals 4.80 psf.
It is my understanding from Dave Wright of Wright Roofing,
that the original roof as it exists today weighs only 1.31
psf and the new added roofing will weigh 1.83. The current
roil-foil insulation is very light and this is not changing;
therefore, the total weight of the original roofing,
reroofing and insulation is approximately 3.50 psf which is
less than the 4.80 psf used in our original design.
It is our opinion that the present roof structure will be
able to safely support the additional weight of the
reroofing, assuming the existing structure has not
deteriorated.
