VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of
Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit•.9oordinator at 433-1851 prior to
submitting application• In alt•caocc, a valuation•amount should be entered bylho applicant. This figure will be
reviewed and is subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules,

application shall expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a
period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform
Building Code (current edition). No application shall be extended more than once.

Dear Sir:
The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following. concerns:
1. Maintain fire extinguisher coverage throughout..
2. Obstructions, including storage, shall not be placed
in the required width of an exit, except projections as
permitted by the Building Code. Exits shall not be
obstructed in any manner and shall remain free of any
material or matter where its presence would obstruct or
render the exit hazardous. (UFC 12.104(a))
Aisles leading to required exits shall be provided
from all portions of buildings. The width and spacing
of aisles shall be maintained at all times. (UFC
12.104(b))
3. All new sprinkler systems and all modifications to
existing sprinkler systems shall have fire department
review and approval of drawings prior to installation or
modification. New sprinkler systems and all modifications
to sprinkler systems involving more than 50 heads shall
have the written approval of the W.S.R.B., Factory Mutual,
Industrial Risk Insurers, Kemper or any other
representative designated and /or recognized by The City of
Tukwila, prior to submittal to the Tukwila Fire Prevention
Bureau. No sprinkler work shall commence without approved
drawings. (City Ordinance #1646) (Demo shutdown number.

4. All electrical work and equipment shall conform
strictly to the standards of The National Electrical Code.
(NFPA 70) (Demo permit required)
5. Required fire resistive construction, including
occupancy separations, area separation walls, exterior
walls due to location on property, fire resistive
requirements based on type of construction, draft stop
partitions and roof coverings shall be maintained as
specified in the Building Code and Fire Code and shall be
properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged,
altered, breached, penetrated, removed or improperly
installed. (UFC 10.601)
When fire resistive floor or floor ceiling assemblies
are required to prevent the vertical and horizontal
spread of fire and smoke, the assembly shall be
maintained. (UBC 1704(b))
Replace the missing ceiling tile(s) to maintain a
continuous fire resistive membrane. (UBC 4305(b))
6. Every building shall be accessible to Fire Department
apparatus by way of access roadways with all- weather
driving surface of not less than 20' wide and 13'6"
vertical clearance. Access roads in excess of 150' shall
be provided with an approved turn- around area. Access
shall be within 150' of all portions of the buildings.

demo.)
7. Accumulation of combustible waste material is
prohibited during the demolition phase of this project.

day as needed.
8. Commercial dumpsters and containers with an individual
capacity of 1.5 cubic yards or greater shall not be stored .
or placed within 5 feet of combustible walls, openings or
combustible roof eave lines. (UFC'11.302(b))
9. All compressed gas cylinders in service . or in storage
shall be adequately secured to prevent falling or being
knocked over. (UFC 74.107)
10. Flammable or combustible liquids that are used in
excess of 10 gallons total, must be stored in metal storage
cabinets. No more than 120 gallons may be stored in any
one cabinet (60 gallons of class 1 or 11 flammable
Liquids). Cabinets shall be conspicuously labeled
"FLAMMABLE - KEEP FIRE AWAY ". Cabinets shall have .a 2"
.high liquid tight lip for spill containment and shall have
self - closing doors. (UFC 79.202(c)) (UFC
79.202(2)(3)(b)(c))
11. .The sprinkler system shall remain operational and
monitored throughout the building during all phases of
demolition. If the system cannot be restored at the end of
the workday, a fire watch will be provided.
Any overlooked hazardous condition and /or violation of the
adopted Fire or Building Codes does not imply approval of
such condition or violation.
