Subject: 1TW RantseURed Head Self-Drilling, Non - Drill, Stud, Dynabuit Sleeve, Trubult Wedge, Multi -Set 11 Concrete Anchors and Steel Deck Inserts. II. Descriptiont A. ITW RansseURtd Bead Self - Drilling Anchors The ITW RamscteRed Head anchor is a 'cif-drilling concrete expansion shell anchor with a single cone expander, both made from heet•trcatcd steel. The steel for the body conforms to the minimum requirements of AISI Specifi• cation C•12L 14 and the steel for'thc plug conforms to thc minimum require- ments of AiSi Specification C -1010. The. anchor has eight sharp teeth at one end and is threaded intemulty at the uther end. The outer surface of the tubular shell at the toothed end has annular broaching grooves and four milled slits. At its threuJed end. the unchur is provided with an unthreaded chucking cnne which has an annular break -off •ruuve at its base fur break- ing off the cone for flush mounting, Anchor sell and expander cone are electrodeposit zinc and chromate plated. The anchors are installed either by a Model 747 Roto•Stop Hammer, by sir or electric Impact hatnmea or by hand. The unchur is used us u drill in forming the hole in the concrete. After the hole is (armed, the anchor Is removed and the hole thoroughly cleaned, The depth of the hole is regulated by the drill chuck. A Rod Heed ptttg is set intu the bottom or the unchur prior to insertion in tho hole. The concrete anchor is then driven over thc plug, causing an expansion of the anchor in the hole. Thc chucking end of the unchur Is broken off aiih a Hammer blow. verification that the anchor has been installed properly is evidenced by the face thut the anchor does not project abuve the surface of the concrete and that the red plug is visible at the bottom of the hole. The allowable shear and tension values arc as sot forth in Table Nu. I. B. ITW Ramset/Red head Non•DrItI Anchors 't'hc non•drill anchor is designed to be installed in t:unerete in a prcdrilled hole. The shell ix formed from steel meeting the minimum requirements of AISI C -121.14 and is pruvided with internal threads at tine end end a plain holo al the ex ansiun end which is divided into four equal segments by radiul slots milled axially along the length of the shell, A series of annular broaching rings are cut into the expansion end of the unchur. The anchors are set over a burdened steel conical- shuped expander plug by driving the unchur flush with the surface of the concrete. The heat•treuted plug is of steel meeting the minimum requirements uf AiSI C- 10ll). The anchors are installed in drilled hold having a diamctet and length the an at the anchnr. After the hole is Gamed, all concrete cuttings are retnuved and the anchor is set in a manner identical to the aelf•drilling anchor. The allowable shear and tension values are as set forth in Tbble No. U. C. ITW Ramact/Rtd Read Stud Anchors: The ITW RamseURed Heed Stud anchor is a non•drilling anchor which provides a protruding externally threaded stud when installed and is formed from steel meeting the minimum requirements of AISI C. 1213. The anchor body has an axial hole, axial slots and series of annual broaching rings in the expansiun end uf the anchor. A (lunged, conical expansion plug of steel meeting the minimum requite - mcnts at AiSI 0.1010, is prcasscmbted into the body. fhe anchurs tare inatullcd in drilled holes having a diameter the same as the anchor and are set as destribe•1 above the self- drilling anchor. The alluwable shear and tension values are as set forth in Table Na. 111. D. ITW RarnsetJRed Head Dynabolt Sleeve Anchor: The Dynabnit sleeve anchors are designed to he installed in a prcdrilled link equal to the unchur diameter and are expanded by tightening the hex nut or head -style nut with a wrench or screwdriver. The external shell or expansion sleeves are stamped and formed from commercial quality carton steel or stainless steel meeting the minimum requirements of AISI C.1010 or Type 3104. respectively, in Nn, 22 and Nn. Ili gauges. The threaded expansion pins with integral conical expanders are formed t'nm carbon steel nr stainless steel meeting the minimum requirements of AISI C -1010 or Type 304, respectively Hnles are drilled Inin the enncretc or masonry at the required locations of the same diameter as the nominal anchor diameter. The anchors are placed in the hole and the nut is turned until the minimum installatinn inrque as indicated in Table N. IV is reached. Allowable shear and tension values are us set forth in Table No. iV. E. ITW Itamsei/Red Head Trubott Wedge Anchor: Thc Trubolt wedge anchors consist of a stud bolt type of drop•in anchor designed for use in stone and lightweight nggregute concrete of various strengths. The tan• chors arc cold formed of machined front either zinc plated and chromate• dipped carbon steel, hut-dipped salt uniecd carbon steel or stainless steel. These anchors meet the minimum requirements of AISI C.1013 to AISI C- 1022 and AISI C -1213 carton steels, or "f)•pc 3021 IQ, Ty pc 303 or Type 316 stainless steels, The expander sleeves are fabricated from carbon or stain. less steel meeting the minimum requirements of AISi C. 1010 or Type 302, respectively. The anchor stud is threaded at its tipper end and has a straight cylindrical section reduced in diumetcr around which the expandet sleeve is formed. A straight•tapered section enlarging to a cylindrical ha.se acts to increase the diameter of the wander rin • as the stud is tightened in the concrete hole. The expander ring, which is formed around the stud bolt, consists of a split ring clement with u "coined" groove at each end, The expander ring is designed to engage the walls of the concrete hut: as thc tapered pwtiun of the stud is forces upward 'against its Interior. Cold•fornsed anchor studs are available only for the r /a -, s /a.. 4s•. NN/s. and 44-inch• diameter wedge anchors. Subject: Tupcon® Concrete Anchors. 11. Description: The Tapcori anchor in heat treated and has un alternat- ing high•low thread form. The high thread provides the cutting action for penetration and has a relief notch for lapping: ease. The low thread pro- vides stability. The anchors are available in /,r,- and' /4 -inch Nixon with various lengths. The anchors are available with either a slotted hex wash- er head or u Phillips (hut head: The anchors are manufactured from AISI 1022 steel. ma anchors ate set by the use of on electric hammer drill, Two basic tools are available. The ConDrive 2000 is used for the slotted hcx head and is u unc -piece device whieh both drills the pilot hole and then is used to install the Tupcon anchor into the deified hole. The ConDrive 1000 sys. tam muy be used with either the hex head or the Phillips flat head Tapcon unchors. After the pilot hole is drilled, u drive sleeve is placed over the drill bit and a special end is uscd for the panleult r anchor to be installed. A pilot hole of .17 inch In diameter for the " /trinch anchor and .20 Inch In diameter for the t/e -inch anchor are drilled t/, Inch longer than the nec- essary penetration. A carbide- tipped drill bit is included with each box of Tapcon anchors, After the pilot hole is drilled, the dust is removed and then the Tupcon anchors are installed to the specified depth of embed. ment. The allowable tension and shear touds are indicated in Table No. 1. The anehorn ere installed a minimum of 12 diameters on center with (065) a minimum edge distance of IU diameters for 100 percent anchor effi- ciency. Spacing and edge distance may be reduced to nix diameters spac- ing and five diameters edge distance provided the values are reduced s0 percent. Linear interpolation may be used for intermediate spacing and edge margins. 1989 Supplement to the U,B.C.t This /:port is unaffected by the Sup- plement. Identification: The Tapcon concrete anchors are identified on each box with the trade name and manufacturer's name. 111. Evidence Submitted: Product descriptions, installation instruc- tions and test dote have been submitted. Findings iV. Findings: That the Topton® Concrete Anchors are an alter- nate type of connector to those specified in the 1988 Uniform Build. ing Code, subject to the following conditions: 1, Allowable shear and tension loads shall not exceed the values set forth In Table No.1. 2. The minimum spacing, edge and end distances shall conform to the requirements set forth in this report. 3. Allowable loads for anchors subjected to combined shear and tension forces shall be determined by the ratio of the actual shear to the Allowable shear plus the ratio of the actual tension to the allowable tendon not exceeding 1.00. 4. Anchors shall not be subjected to vibratory or shock loads such 43 supports for reciprocating engines or crane rails un- less their adequacy la determined by teals and approved by the local building official. Subject: ITW Ramset/Red Head Se1f•Drllling, Non- Urill, Stud, Dynabult Sleeve, Trubolt Wedge, Multi -Set 11 Concrete Anchors and Steel Deck Inserts. II. Descriptions A.1TW Ramset/Red Head Selt•Dr1l11ng Anchor; The ITW Ramsct,'Rcd (lead anchor Is a self-drilling concrete expansion shell anchor with a single cone expander, both made from hcat•trcatcd steel. Thc steel for the body conforms to the minimum requirements of AiS1 Specifi• cation C-121,14 and thc slcc) for'thc plug conforms to the minimum require- ments of AISI Specification C -1010. The anchor has eight sharp teeth at one end and is threaded internully at the other end. The. outer surface of the tubular shell at the toothed end has annular broaching grooves and four milled slits. At its threaded end, the unchur is provided with an unthreaded chucking cone which has an annular break -off groove at its baste fur break- ing off the cone for flush mounting. Anchor shell and expander cone are eleetrodeposit zinc and chromate plated. The anchors are installed either by a Model 747 Roto•Stop Hammer, by air or electric impact hantmea or by hand. The anchor is used as u drill in forming the hole in the concrete. After the hole is formed, the anchor is removed and the hole thoroughly cleaned, The dcpth of the hole Is regulated by the drill chuck, A Red Head plug is set into the bottom of the anchor prior to inscrtinn in the hole, The concrete anchor is then driven over the plug, causing an expansion of the anchor in the hole, Thc chucking end of the anchur is broken off ith a Hammer blow. Verification that the anchor has been installed properly is evidenced by the fact that the anchor doss not project above the surfaced the concrete and that the red plug it visible at the bottom of the hole, The allowable shear and tension values are as set forth in Table Nu, 1. B. ITW Ramset/Red Head Non-Drill Anehurs Thc non-drill anchur is designed to be installed in concrete in a predrillcd hole. The shell is formed from steel meeting the minimum requirements of AISI C- 121,14 and Is pruvided with Internal threads at une and and a plain hole at the expansion end which is divided into four equal segments by radiul slams milled axially along the length of thc shell. A series of annular broaching rings are cut into the expansion end of the unchor. The anchors are set over a burdened steel cunical•shuped expander plug by driving the unchor flush with thc surface of the concrete. The heat- trcuted plug Is of steel meeting the minimum requirements of AiSI C- 1010. The anchors are installed in drilled holes having a diameter and length the same ac thc anchor. After the hole is formed, all concrete cuttings are ramrod and the anchor is set in a manner identical to the aelf•drilling anchor. The allowable shear and tension values arc as sct forth in Table No. II. C,1TW Ramset/Red Head Stud Anchors: The ITW Ramtet/Red stead stud anchor is a non•drilling anchor which provides a protruding externally threaded stud when installed and is formed from steel meeting the minimum requirements of A ISI C- 1213. The anchor body has an axial hole, axles slots and series of annual broaching rings in the expansion end of the anchor, A flanged, conical expansion plug of steel meeting the minimum require- ments of AISi C-1010, is preassentbled into the body, 'f he anchors are installed in drilled holes having a diameter the same as thc anchor and are set as dest.ribed abue the self- drilling anchor. Ilse ulluwable shear and tension values arc as sct forth in Table Nn. 111. O. ITW Ramset/Red Head Dynabolt Sleeve Anchor: The Dynabott sleeve anchors are designed In he installed in a prcdrilled hnle equal to the unchur diameter and are expanded by tightening the hex nut or head -style nut with a wrench nr screwdriver. The external shell or expansion sleeves are stamped and formed from commercial quality carbon steel or stainless steel meeting; the minimum requirements of AISI C -1010 of Type 304, respectively. in Nn. 22 and Nn. lei gauges. The threaded expansion pins with integral conical expanders are formed from carbon steel nr stainless steel meeting the minimum requirements of AISi C -1010 or Type 304, respectively. Hnlcc arc drilled into the concrete nr masonry at the required locations of the same diameter as the nominal anchor diameter :111e anchors are placed in thc hole and the nut le turned until thc minimum installation torque as indicated in Table NA IV is reached. Allowable shear and tension values are as set forth in Table Nn. IV. 1;. ITW kamset /fed Head Trubolt Wedge Anchor: The Trubolt wedge anchors consist of a stud bolt type of drop -in anchor designed for use in stone and lightweight aggregate concrete of various strengths. The am chors arc cold formed or machined from either zinc•platcd and chromate• dipped earbun sloes, hut- dipped gak united carbon steal or stainless steel, Thlcsc anchors meet thc nunitnum requirements of AISI C•1015 to AiSi C. 1022 and AISI C -1213 carbon steels, of T)•pe 3021 IQ, Type 303 or Type 316 stainless steels, 'rho expander sleeves are fabricated from carbon or stain- less steel meeting the minimum requirements of AISI C.1010 or Type 302, respectively. Thc anchor stud Is threaded at its tipper end and has a straight cylindrical section reduced in diameter around which thc expander sleeve is formed. A straight- tapered section enlarging to u cylindrical base acts to increase the diameter of the expander ring as the stud is tightened in the concrete hole. The expander ring, which is formed around the stud bolt, consists of a split ring clement with u "coined" groove at each end. The expander ring is designed to engage the walls of the concrete We as the tapered portent of the stud Is forced upward uguinst its interior. Cold-formed anchor studs are available only for the 1/4., ' /a., r /z -. •t/a. and r/. -inch- diameter wedge anchors. The anchors are installed in the field by drilling a hole in the concrete, the same nominal size us the anchor size, to a depth gtcater th to :he length of embedment desired, NI no less than the minimum embedment, 11 Is not necessary to clean out•the hole prim to the installation of the anchor, provided the huie is sufficiently deeper thus the desired embedment. The anchor is then tapped into the hole to the embedment depth desired, but no less than the minimum embedment. ,\ standard hexagonal nut and washer are used uver thc material being fastened and the nut tightened until the minimum installation torque as indicated In Table No. V is rnuched. The allowable shear and tension values are as let furth in Table No. V, F. The anchor has eight sharp teeth at one end and is thteaded intemully at the uther end. The outer surface uf the tubular shell at the toothed end has annular broaching grooves and four milled slits. At its threaded end, the unchur is provided with an unthreaded chucking cone which has an annular break -off groove at its bade fur break- ing off the cone for flush mounting, Anchor sell and expander one are electrateposit zinc and chromate plated. The anchors are Installed either by a Model 747 Roto -Stop Hamster, by air or electric impact Nubile!, or by hand. The anchor is used us u drill in .—., forming the hole In the concrete. After the hole is formed, the anchor is removed and the holt thoroughly cleaned. Thc dcpth of the hole Is regulated by the drill chuck. A Red Hend plug is set into the bottom of the anchor prior to insertion in rho hole. The concrete anchor is then driven over the plug, causing an expansion of the anchor in thc hole, Thc chucking end of the anchor is broken off tk ith a hammer blow. Verification that the anchor has been Installed properly is evidenced by the fact that the anchor does not project abuve the surface of the concrete and that thc red plug is visible at the hnttnm of the hole. The allowable shear and tension values arc as set forth in Table Nu, I. B. iTW Rennet/Red Head Non•DrIII Anchurt The non -drill anchor is designed to be Installed in concrete in a ptcdrilied hole, The shell is formed from steel meeting the minimum requirements of AISI C- 121.14 and Is provided with Internal threads at une end and a plain holo at tha expansion end which is divided into four equal segments by radial sleets milled axially along the length of the shell. A series of annular broaching rings are cut into the expansion end of the anchor. Thc anchors are set over a hardened steal conical- shaped expander plug by driving the anchor flush with thc surface of thc concrete. The heat- treuted plug is of steel meeting the minimum requirements of AiSI C- 1010. The anchors are installed in drilled hntcs having a diameter and length the an as the anchor.
