Wendy Morgan, representing the Tukwila Historical Society, stated
the Historical Society voted to present a proposal for the
Centennial year. They would like to publish a History of the
City with the assistance of a professional historian. They would
like the work done in two phases. The first phase would be comprised
of an inventory of material that is available and would be supervised
by the Historical Society with a student intern in archives doing
the inventory. This phase will cost approximately $5,000. The work
would be accomplished from January to March 1989. The second phase
would be the written history by a professional historian. The City
of Auburn has done a similar history and they allocated $18,000 for
the work. A bid would be let for professional services with an
advisory committee from the Historical Society. This work would
be accomplished from March to November 1989 and the cost would be
approximately $20,000. They are asking to have this additional
amount put in the budget for the Centennial.
