APPLICATION SUBMITTAL In order to ensure that your application is accepted for plan review, please make sure to fill out the
application completely and follow the plan submittal checklist on the reverse side of this form. Handouts are available at
the Building counter which provide more detailed information on application and plan submittal requirements.
Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review.
VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of
Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting
application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is
subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules.
BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered archAect/engineer, or contractor
licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this
permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal.
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall
expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180
days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition).
No application shall be extended more than once.

Dear Sylvia:
Thank you for your letter of 1 December 1994.
We are actively working on the alterations described in the above-
captioned permit. On 21 November 1994 we submitted plans to the City
of Tukwila Fire Department for fire -alarm corrections under the permit.
The Fire Department has not yet responded. When it approves, we shall
implement the plans and request fire final and building final inspections.
We assume the Fire Department will approve our plans by 31 December.
Because the work will change 144 alarm devices throughout the building,
it may require up to 2 months. We therefore request an extension of the
building permit until 28 February 1995. Thank you for considering this
request.

We request approval of a revision of the plans for a commercial tenant improvement for which you
have issued Building Permit B93 -0378. The revision divides Suite 100 into two suites, numbered
100 and 110, and adds a room to Suite 110. All of the affected space was previously to be used for
general office purposes and remains to be used for the same purposes. The revision has no effect on
exit corridor occupant loads, parking requirements, or any other general conditions, except that the
fire alarm revision plans being submitted to the Tukwila Fire Department will provide the required
detection and signaling devices for the revised floor plan.
The revision increases the estimated cost of construction from $1,463.00 to $2,406.00. We shall be
happy to pay any charges applicable to the increased valuation.

The final review by Tukwila Building Division indicates that
the basis for not providing one hour fire resistive
construction for 199P /Hall is not consistent with code
sections noted on plans. The area served by the noted
hallway is now common to the remainder of the first floor
and is no longer an individual tenant space. Consequently,
the occupant loads throughout this floor are intermingled,
have access to, and may exit through this hallway.
Prior to approval of this application, the plans must call
for the construction (at the proposed new construction area)
of walls and and any new ceiling, consistent with the
requirements for a one hour fire resistive corridor.
Please make appropriate revisions to the plans and submit
two copies of same. If you have any questions you may call
this office weekdays between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM.

The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. The total number of fire extinguishers required for
your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for
each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be
of the "All Purpose" (2A, 10B:C) dry chemical type. Travel
distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or less.
(NFPA 10, 3 -1.1)
Clear access to fire extinguishers is required at all
times. They may not be hidden or obstructed. (NFPA
10, 1 -6.5)

Maintain fire extinguisher coverage throughout.
2. Hallways in your building are constructed as one -hour
rated exit corridors. In order to maintain this one -hour
rating, doors leading into the corridor must be kept
self- closing or the door hardware must meet certain
criteria of the Building & Fire Codes. Please contact the
Fire Prevention Bureau at 575 -4407 for further information.

No point in an unsprinklered building may be more than
150 feet from an exit, measured along the path of
travel. (UBC 3303(d))
