APPLICATION SUBMITTAL In order to ensure that your application is accepted for plan review, please make sure to MI out the
application completely and follow the plan submittal checklist on the reverse side of this form. Handouts are available at
the Building counter which provide more detailed information on application and plan submittal requirements.
Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review.
VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of
Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting
application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is
subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules.
BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT if the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, or contractor
licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this
permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal.
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall
expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180
days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition).
No application shall be extended more than once.

project. All construction and material purchases shall be done by the Museum
of Flight staff, with the exception of the concrete block work. A masonry

Dear Sir:
The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. The total number of fire extinguishers required for
your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for
each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be
of the "All Purpose" (2A, 10B:C) dry chemical type. Travel
distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or less.
(NFPA 10, 3 -1.1)
Extinguishers shall be installed on the hangers or in
the brackets supplied, mounted in cabinets, or set on
shelves (NFPA 10, 1- 6.9),,and shall be installed so
that the top of the extinguisher is not more than 5
feet above the floor. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.9)
Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in plain
view (if at all possible), or if not in plain view,
they shall be identified with a sign stating, "Fire
Extinguisher ", with an arrow pointing to the unit.
(NFPA 10, 1 -6.3) (UFC 10.505A)
Clear access to fire extinguishers is required at all
times. They may not be hidden or obstructed. (NFPA
10, 1 -6.5)
2. Exit doors shall be openaple from the inside without
the use of a key or any special- knowledge or effort. Exit
doors shall not be locked, chained, bolted, barred, latched
or otherwise rendered unusable. All locking devices shall
be of an approved type. (UFC 12.106(c))

Obstructions, including storage, shall not be placed
in the required width of an exit, except projections
as permitted by the Building Code. Exits shall not be
obstructed in any manner and shall remain free of any
material or matter where its presence would obstruct
or render the exit hazardous. (UFC 12.1O4(a))
Dead bolts are not allowed on auxiliary exit doors
unless the dead bolt is automatically retracted when
the door handle is engaged from inside the tenant
space.
Exit hardware and marking shall meet the requirements
of the Uniform Fire Code. (UFC 12.106- 12.111),
3. An approved fire alarm system is required per City
Ordinance #1646. An approved automatic sprinkler system
may be installed in lieu of a fire alarm system. (Plans
must be submitted to the Fire Prevention Bureau for
approval prior to installation.) (NFPA 72- 2 -5.5)
Call the Tukwila Fire Department at 575 -4404 for
approval of any system shut down. Have job site
address, name and the Tukwila Fire Department Job
Number available to confirm shut down approval. (City

4. All electrical work and equipment shall conform
strictly to the standards of The National Electrical Code.
(NFPA 70)
5. Required fire resistive construction, including
occupancy separations, area separation walls, exterior
walls due to location on property, fire resistive
requirements based on type of construction, draft stop
partitions and roof coverings shall be maintained as
specified in the Building Code and Fire Code and shall be
properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged,
altered, breached, penetrated, removed or improperly
installed. (UFC 10.601)

Re: Request for Extension of Building and Mechanical Permits
Recently I received a letter from Shelly Bates notifying me that our permits were
about to expire due to the amount of time that had passed since our last inspection. I
called Shelly and she recommended that I contact you and request an extension of our
permits for the boiler project. Although we are nearing completion with this project there
are several items still remaining to be resolved or completed prior to being ready for the
mechanical and building final inspections.
During the last two weeks we have had the factory representative calibrate and test
the boiler operation, obtained certification from the State licensed boiler inspector, and
activated and tested the automation system. Next week System Control is scheduled to
complete the installation and testing of the boiler room heat detector as part of our existing
fire protection system. Once this is complete we will be ready for the fire final Inspection.
The following week we will call for the electrical final inspection.
Among the items still outstanding are the completion of roof flashing and gutters,
sealing of conduit penetrations within the museum, fabrication and installation of
escutcheon plates, and the installation of a differential pressure transmitter.
With the above items in mind as well as the time required by other museum
projects, I anticipate that it will take a little more than a month to complete the items
remaining. Thus if possible, it would be a great help if you could grant an extension of the
building and mechanical permits until the end of the year. I do appreciate you're
consideration of this matter and look forward to hearing from you.

SCOPE OF WORK
The Protect includes a now Boiler Room Addition at the existing Simla Ana.
Remove existing metal fence wall with doors and construct the new Boiler Room
structure on a new concrete platform, from concrete masonry units (CMU)
reinforced as Indicated on dnvings. Steel roof joists are supporting the metal
roof panels. This Project also includes mechanical and electrical work.
1. All work shall comply with applicable codes and ordinances.
2. Verify all dimensions and existing conditions on the job before proceeding
with the work. Discrepancles, if any, are to be referred to the Architect for
direction prior to proceeding with related work.
3. Where existing work is damaged, cut or defaced due to performance of
new work, the Contractor shall patch and repair same to match adjoining
surfaces. Repair finishes shall be extended to the nearest visual break
lines such as corners, ceiling lines, top of ban or similar.

removal of the work Indicated and the associated patching and repairing to
