Tukwila City Hall
Conference Room #3
Mayor Van Dusen called the Special Meeting of the Tukwila
City Council to order. The fifth Monday was set for a
Special Meeting to allow Council to meet with the Arts
Commission and the Park Commission.
Two items of business were considered first.
MOVED BY HARRIS, SECONDED BY STOKNES, THAT COUNCIL AWARD THE
BID FOR THE GREEN RIVER DIKE FREEBOARD IMPROVEMENT TO ALLIED
CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $96,733.07.*
Ross Earnst reported that this project goes from 200 feet,
south of where the railroad crosses the trail south to the
pump station. Here there is a short stretch that is high
enough; then it continues down to South 180th. This will
bring the dike up to two feet of freeboard above the 100 year
flood level.

gateways and the Council's and Arts Commission's role in the
process; (2) The role of the arts in Tukwila and the selec-
tion of art pieces for the City.
After considerable discussion, Council Member Duffie asked to
have it made a matter of record that he rejects the 1989
budget because of the Mayor's comment about not being con-
cerned about the $10,000 in the Arts Commission budget.
MOVED BY ROBERTSON, SECONDED BY MORIWAKI, THAT COUNCIL CHANGE
NOTHING FROM THE WAY IT EXISTED LAST YEAR AND THAT THE
APPROVED BUDGET IS THE BUDGET OF THE ARTS COMMISSION TO SPEND
AS THEY SEE FIT, SUBJECT TO THE NORMAL RULES, REGULATIONS,
LAWS GOVERNING SUCH THINGS.*
