VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of
Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting
application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is
subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules.
BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, or contractor
licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this
permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal.
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall
expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180
days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition).
No application shall be extended more than once.

Dear Mr. Ravenhill:
We have received a copy of your letter from Seattle -King
County Department of Public Health regarding the use of the
existing, septic system. Based upon the health departments
findings, it seems that the options (under which we can
issue a building permit) remain subject to the installation
of an approved septic system or the elimination of the need
for additional septic system capacity.
If you choose to eliminate the need for additional septic
capacity you will' need to submit revised plans with the bath
facilities and the kitchen sink eliminated. Final
inspection approval of the Building Permit will require
removal of same. Please inform us as to how you intend to
proceed with this application.
Your project remains under a "Stop Work" order which
prohibits any work to proceed until a building permit is
issued. In the event that a building permit is not obtained
for this work, the structure is considered an illegal
structure and we will be required to proceed with any Code
prescribed means to abate this construction.
If you have any questions or need clarifications to the

Part IX, Section 2 -D of the King County Board of Health Rules and Regulations No, 3 states, (in part):

1. The size of the drainfield is not adequate in relation to the proposed use from one
bedroom to three bedrooms. The septic system needs to be upgraded to meet
the requirements of the King County Board of Health Rules and Regulations No.
3. A septic system design is required and shall be done by a licensed designer.
If the design is approved by the Health Department, the septic system must be
installed by a licensed installer. Portions of the existing septic system may be
included in the design. For any portion of the drainfield that is not located on the
same lot,.a drainfield easement is required.
2. A drainfield reserve area is required by the code and must be shown in the design.
The lot is very small (8400 square feet) and it appears that there is not much
room for a primary drainfield and reserve area for a three bedroom residence.
However, you may use the adjacent lot to the east for a drainfield if the lots were
created prior to May, 1984, and you can obtain a recorded drainfield easement
from the owner. A list of designers and a drainfield easement form are enclosed.
