CONSTRUCTION AT FREDERICK & NELSON RETAIL BUILDING TUKWILA, WASHINGTON Sears & Roebuck proposes to have an aboveground storage tank installed on the roof of the Frederick & Nelson building in order to provide diesel fuel to the existing emergency generator for emergency power supply uses only. The above ground storage tank will be a 120- gallon double wall rectangular tank with double steel sides and bottom and single steel top. The exterior tank coating is red iron oxide. The tank will be equipped with a steel containment berm with a minimum holding capacity equal to .110 % of the tank volume. The berm will also contain a canopy to protect the tank from precipitation and to prevent water from filling the containment berm. This Specification provides the requirements for installation of an aboveground storage tank (AST) on the roof of the Frederick & Nelson building located at 400 Southcenter Shopping Center, Tukwila, Washington. The AST will be used to provide diesel fuel to an emergency generator currently existing on the roof of the building adjacent to the proposed location of the AST. The Tukwila Fire Marshall and Building Division have been contacted regarding the proposed construction activities and have provided guidelines for compliance with appropriate city ordinances. Permit applications for the proposed construction activities have been submitted to both agencies for approval. B . All work shall conform to the Specifications and Drawings. SECTION 020 PERMITS PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 PERMITS A. Enviros has acquired or will acquire the following permits: 1. City of Tukwila Building Permit 2. SECTION 030 SAFETY AND HEALTH PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 SAFETY AND HEALTH REGULATIONS A. This Section specifies the execution requirements and products for the AST installation at the site as follows: 1 Install one aboveground storage tank, containment structure and canopy supplied by ACE Tank & Equipment Co. as ordered by Enviros and specified hereunder. 1.02 REFERENCES A. Work and items included in this Section shall comply with the applicable sections of the latest edition of the following codes, standards and regulations: 1. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards. 2. Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Standards 3. Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL) Standards. 4. Uniform Building Code (UBC). 5. Uniform Fire Code (UFC). 6. Washington Industrial Safety and Health Administration (WISHA) Standards. 930313 CITY oF�TUKWILA envirosSAY 18 1993 PERMIT CENTER PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 TANK DESCRIPTION A. The AST furnished by ACE Tank & Equipment Company and ordered by Enviros is a 120 gallon double wall rectangular tank having double steel sides and bottoms with single 10 gauge steel tops. The tank is fabricated in conformance with the requirements of UL Standard 142. The exterior coating is enamel paint applied over a red iron oxide primer and the interior is bare steel. The dimensions are as shown on the drawings. The weight is approximately 475 pounds. B . The containment berm and canopy furnished by ACE Tank & Equipment Company and ordered by Enviros is a welded steel construction as shown on the-drawings. The exterior coating is enamel paint applied over a red iron oxide primer. The containment capacity is equal to 110% of the tank volume, minimum. The dimensions are as shown on the drawings. The weight is approximately 410 pounds. 2.02 PIPING A. Product piping shall meet the minimum requirements of the City of Tukwila Fire Marshall and the operating parameters of the emergency generator. 2.03 REINFORCED CONCRETE A. The reinforced concrete pad and associated reinforcing bars, dowels and bonding agents shall have the qualities and dimensions as shown on the drawings. 2.04 ANCHORS AND WASHERS A. The anchors shall be as shown on the drawings. The washers shall be 3/8" inside diameter rubber washers and shall be placed at each anchor location as shown on the drawings. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 GENERAL A. Execute work and complete tank installation as necessary to satisfy the requirements of the Tukwila Fire Department and Department of Community Development - Building Division. 3.02 SITE PREPARATION A. Remove the existing concrete AST pad and roofing materials as required to accommodate the new concrete AST pad as shown on the drawings. B . Prepare roof surface and lay new reinforced concrete AST pad as shown on the drawings. 3.03 TANK INSTALLATION A. Perform the following in conformance with the Specifications and Drawings: 1. Make arrangements with ACE Tank & Equipment Company for delivery of the AST and canopy, ctrYRe eive° a 930313 enviros® MAY 1 8 1993 PERMIT CENTER 2. On delivery, inspect the tank for any defects. Notify. the Engineer if defects are found so the Engineer can determine the required action, otherwise take delivery and assume responsibility for tank's good working condition. 3. Transport tank to the installation location, and install as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein. Existing product supply piping shall be removed and new product supply piping installed to meet the requirements of paragraph 2.02 above. Tank and berm shall be securely bolted to the concrete pad A watertight seal shall exist between the berm and the concrete pad. Coordinate all installation and construction activities with the Engineer. 4, Complete installation of tank, test and make operational to the satisfaction of the Engineer. 5. Insure that seal between AST pad and roofing is watertight. Remove and properly dispose of all construction debris generated during tank installation activities.
