Don Williams, Director of Parks and Recreation, reported he
received a call from the County. They have taken the first step
to fund the operation of Fort Dent. They would like to meet with
the City again with the idea of the City taking over the operation
in 1990.
Mayor Van Dusen opened the Public Hearing at 7:30 p.m.
John Schwarzeman, McMicken Heights, stated it is irritating to
have the City acquire another park and spend money on it when
Crystal Springs Park has not been completed. It seems that all of
the money in Tukwila is being spent at the bottom of the hill. The
children are playing on 51st Street. Money should be spent to
complete the parks we have.
There being no further comments, Mayor Van Dusen closed the Public
Hearing at 7:35 p.m.
Councilmember Bauch commented that Crystal Springs Park will start
this year.
Don Williams, Director of Parks and Recreation, stated the CIP calls
for the park on 53rd and 139th. We have been waiting to use the
fill material from the reservoir. The soil condition on the hill
is a worry. There will be a sidewalk on the north side of 160th.
