Councilmember Bauch reported the transportation benefit district was discussed in the committee meeting. Information will be presented to the entire Council in the near future. Police Chief Waldner reported a crime prevention meeting will be held August 9 in the evening. Mayor Van Dusen reported a public hearing notice has been mailed to all citizens regarding the annexations. He stated the City would like to delay until negotiations on the bridge have been completed. The City may request a delay until February so negotiations with the entities can take place. If Seattle and King County refuse to negotiate and the bridge is included in the annexation the City will turn down the annexation. Councilmember Stoknes stated the Council wishes to have a meeting with the Planning Commission so the members of both groups can become better acquainted. The Council could then understand the Planning Commission role in decision making. Mayor Van Dusen stated the City Hall parking is not adequate for City employees and citizens. The condominiums to the north have offered some land that can be leased and parking spaces could be put in there. The other alternative is to add additional parking in the front of the building. Councilmember Hernandez stated she thought the City should stay with property owned by the City and put additional parking in front of the building and enhance it with landscaping. Mayor Van Dusen stated further reports would be made to the Council as a plan develops.
