Council President Harris called the Committee of the Whole
Meeting to order at 9:52 P.M.
MABEL J. HARRIS (COUNCIL PRESIDENT), JOE H. DUFFIE, EDGAR D. BAUCH,
MARILYN G. STOKNES, JOAN HERNANDEZ, DENNIS L. ROBERTSON,
CLARENCE B. MORIWAKI.
MOVED BY BAUCH, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, THAT THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION
ACCEPTING A DONATION OF ROCK SALT FROM INTERNATIONAL CONSOLIDATION
AND DISTRIBUTION INCORPORATED BE ON THE CONSENT AGENDA OF THE
NEXT REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. MOTION CARRIED.
The need for additional City Hall parking was discussed.
Councilmember Bauch stated the Community Affairs Committee has
discussed five alternatives. A cross section of Alternatives
A and B has been requested. The cost would be about $8,000 per
space.
Councilmember Moriwaki stated as a member of the Community
Affairs Committee they were shown shots of the parking in front
of the City Hall. It was not attractive. The lease idea is
more appropriate.
Mayor Van Dusen suggested the Council turn down the lower parking
lot plan. It is too expensive.
MOVED BY BAUCH, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, THAT THE ITEM BE ON THE NEXT
AGENDA FOR THE APPROVAL OF THE AUTHORIZATION FOR THE DRAINAGE
SYSTEM FOR THE UPPER PARKING LOT. MOTION CARRIED.
Alan Doerschel, Finance Director, explained the proposed
1989 budget submittal and review schedule.
Mayor Van Dusen reported Suburban Cities Meeting will be held
on September 21 at the Kent Senior Center.
Mayor Van Dusen gave an update on the Fire District #1
annexation.
The tour of the Riverton area will be Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
MOVED BY DUFFIE, SECONDED BY STOKNES, THAT THE COMMITTEE OF THE
WHOLE MEETING ADJOURN. MOTION CARRIED.
