Pacific Engineering Technologies Inc. 1300 Dexter Avenue North #100 Seattle, WA 98109 RE: Shoreline Exemption L96 -0011 Dear Mr. Hofmeister: This is to inform you that the City of Tukwila has approved your request for an exemption from .a' shoreline permit for the proposal to install sheet pile at the Greenbaum Furniture site (13400 Interurban Avenue South). The project qualifies for exemption as "Normal Repair and Maintenance" (WAC 173 -14 -040). This exemption is based on plans, photos and written description of the project on file at the Tukwila Planning Department. The project will replace two stretches of failed timber piles with new sheet piles. It will not intrude further into the river, nor will it create any new upland areas. The exemption is effective immediately. If you have any questions in this matter, don't hesitate to call me at 431 -3661. The existing bulkhead failed as the result the recent flooding in the Kent Valley. We are also enclosing for your information, photographs of the failures; a print of the original bulkhead design drawing; and the original US Army Corps of Engineers permit drawing. It is our opinion that this work should be exempt from a Shoreline Permit since it is repair of the existing failed bulkhead. We request that you issue a decision exempting this work from a Shoreline Substantial Development Permit. Please call if you have any questions.
