Mayor Van Dusen called the Regular Meeting of the Tukwila
City Council to order and led the audience in the Pledge of
Allegiance.

Councilman McFarland explained that he worked closely with
the Tukwila Action Committee on the appeal, and he asked to
be excused from the discussion, and more appropriately, to be
excused from the meeting.

POSTPONED UNTIL THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 8.*

ORDINANCE BE READ BY TITLE ONLY. MOTION CARRIED.
City Attorney Haney read an ordinance of the City of Tukwila,
Wash., amending the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map designa-
tion for certain real property located at 5665 So. 178th
Street from Low Density Residential to Office, rezoning the
property from R -A (agricultural) to P -0 (professional and
office) and authorizing execution of a concomitant zoning
agreement.

RESOLUTION BE READ BY TITLE ONLY. MOTION CARRIED.
City Attorney Haney read a resolution of the City Council of
the City of Tukwila, Wash., relating to the collection of
property taxes and abatement liens; declaring a City policy
directing the temporary investment of City taxes and abate-
ment liens in the custody of the King County comptroller in
an interest bearing account and, when sufficient funds have
accrued therefore, in treasury bills pending distribution to
the City; and authorizing the City Finance Director to pro-
vide appropriate instructions to the County.
He called attention to the blank in section 3 and said the
Council should designate a bank or such other qualified
public depository eligible to receive public funds. It was
agreed that Peoples Bank would be designated.

City Attorney Haney read a resolution of the City Council of
the City of Tukwila, Wash., adopting a recreation Service
Policy Plan.

BE ADOPTED AS READ. MOTION CARRIED.
Mayor Van Dusen reported that two new employees started work
Monday. Viki Witschger is the new Personnel Officer and the
new Administrative Secretary is Ivory Wilson.

Councilman Duffie reported that the Community Affairs
Committee received a petition asking that a foot trail in the
McMicken Heights area be improved. Ownership of the trail is
being investigated at this time.
Don Morrison, City Administrator, reported that $9,000 was
budgeted for Spring and Fall Cleanup Weeks. However, the
cost of this year's Spring Cleanup came to $11,693. There
were 720 trips made to the dump; 547 of the trips were
greater than 200 pounds each; 33 were greater than one ton
and 6 greater than two ton. They will come back later in the
year with a Budget Amendment.
Mayor Van Dusen asked that the Utilities Committee review the
process. Everyone agreed that this is one of the best
programs started by the City.
Attorney Haney reported that their office is working with
King County Animal Control to draw up an acceptable scheme
for control of dangerous dogs so that everyone will be
consistent.
