A tentative agreement was reached during mediation in good faith between the parties on November 14, 2014 which resulted in a three year contract (2014-2016). The City team used the guiding principles established by the Council in their Compensation Resolution No. 1796, setting the focus for the negotiation and mediation process. The contract provides for wage increases over term of the labor agreement based upon external market comparators, using flat percentage or CPI-W formula. Other negotiated changes were to the Bereavement Leave and the Grievance Procedure articles of the agreement. Overall, the negotiation and mediation process was a good collaborative effort by both parties. RECOMMENDATION The City Council is being asked to authorize the Mayor to sign the successor collective bargaining agreement between the City and the USW Police Commanders at the December 1, 2014, Regular meeting. 159
