INSTALLATION AND WARRANTY SHEET
WARNING: All Jenn -Air Backward Curved Centrifugal
Wheels run in a CCW Direction when viewed from above
(opposite the air intake), If the wheel is run in the wrong
direction the motor will be overloaded and will burn out.
WARNING: Especially check 3 -phase units for rotation.
For 3- phase, rotation can be changed by interchanging any
two of the three line leads. If unit is checked on temporary
wiring, it should be rechecked for rotation when permanently
installed. Motor burn out or pulled overload protection devi-
ces are usually the result of wrong rotation.
WARNING: Motor overloads are the result of wrong
rotation, high voltage or low voltage, The National Electrical
Code states that motors located in a manner as those used in
Jenn -Air roof exhausters must be protected with a thermal
cut -off device that will actuate when the amperes input to the
motor are in excess of the motor nameplate rating. Refer to
sections 430 -32 and 430 -34 of the National Electrical Code,
WARNING: Do not replace motor sheave with one larger
in diameter. Do not replace jack shaft sheave with one smaller
in diameter. The sheave ratios are set so that the motor will
not be overloaded within the range of the adjustable sheave.
CHECK: Belt tension is adjusted at the factory but it
should be readjusted after a break -in period of approximately
48 hours of actual operation.
Printed In U.S.A.
INSTALLATION
1. Before setting unit on curb (if damper Is to be used)
ascertain that the damper is positioned and operative.
Damper may be installed inside duct.
There is a 7/8" knock -out provided in the damper frame
that can be used for wiring If necessary.
2. Install unit on curb with the grommet hole located in the
corner of the curb through which the electrical wiring will
be run.
3. Run wires at the inside corner of the curb, through the 7/8"
knock -out or through the open corner between the damp-
er flanges. Next run wire through the wiring post of the
unit and the rubber grommet of the motor mounting plate
to the safety disconnect switch. Leave some slack be-
tween the grommet and the switch so that the power
assembly can be lifted off the posts for cleaning and
inspection. Connect motor leads to the disconnect switch
according to the instruction cards attached to the switch
box.
4. Check line voltage with the motor nameplate and the
attached instruction cards.
5. Determine if wheel is free to rotate and has not been
subject to misalignment in shipping or installation.
6. Apply power and check rotation of wheel with the direc-
tional arrow in the motor compartment.
7. Lag bolt the unit to the roof curb using a minimum of 4
bolts -- one at each corner. Replace cover and fasten all
nuts securely.
8. 12 thru 31 cover and cover bracket Installation — see
diagram on back side of this sheet.

MAINTENANCE SHEET FOR :NBCR BELT: DRIVE=UNITS
1. The motor in these units are equipped with prelubricated,
ball bearings. They will require no relubrication for 6 to 10
years of normal operation.
2. Fan shaft pillow block bearing on larger units are equipped
with grease gun fittings. These bearings are factory lubri-
cated and with normal operation will need no relubrication
for 3 to 6 months.
3. For pillow block bearings use a low pressure grease gun
with • Alvania 'Grease #2 or #3 or equivalent. Only a few
strokes of the gun are required. Excess grease will push out
through the bearing pressure relief holes. Use of a.high
pressure gun however, is liable to blow the bearing seals.
4. Belt tension is adjusted at the factory. It should be read-
justed after a break -in period of 48 hours of actual
operation.'
5. To adjust belt tension, loosen hex head screw in tab of
motor plate. Snug belts by pulling on the motorwith a force.
of 15 lbs. for single belts and 30 lbs. for double belts.
Retighten screw before releasing motor.
6. Belt condition and tension should be checked every 6 to 12
months depending on service. If belt tension is too tight
there is a possibility of "overloading the motor as well as,
causing undue belt wear. If the belt tension is too slack
then the wheel will fall off in RPM, air delivery will decrease
and the belts will wear quite rapidly.
7. If the air handled by the unit is dust or grease laden, a
regular inspection and cleaning of the back draft damper•
and the wheel will insure smooth efficient operation.
