VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules. BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT if the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect'engineer, or contractor licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal. EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition). No application shall be extended more than once. Electrical permit shall be obtained through the Washington State Division of Labor and Industries and all electrical work will be inspected by that agency (277- 7272). 3. All mechanical work shall be under separate permit through the City of Tukwila. 4. All permits, inspection records, and approved plans shall be posted at the job site prior to the start of any construction. 5. Any new ceiling grid and light fixture installation is required to meet lateral bracing requirements for Seismic Zone 3. 6. Partition walls attached to ceiling grid must be laterally braced if over eight (8) feet in length. 7. Any exposed insulations backing material to have Flame Spread Rating of 25 or less, and material shall bear identification showing the fire performance rating thereof. 8. All construction to be done in conformance with approved plans and requirements of the Uniform Building Code (1988 Edition), Uniform Mechanical Code (1988 Edition), Washington State Energy Code (1991 Edition), and Washington State Regulations for Barrier Free Facility (1989 Edition). 9. Validity of Permit. The issuance of a permit or approval of plans, specifications and computations shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of this code or of any other ordinance of the jurisdiction. VanDusen, Mayor January 7, 1992 Re: Southcenter Mall - 633 Southcenter Mall Dear Sir: The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the following concerns: 1. The total number of fire extinguishers required for your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be of the "All Purpose" (2A, 10 B:C) dry chemical type. Travel distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or less. (NFPA 10, 3 -1.1) (UFC 10 -1 (3 -1)) Extinguishers shall be installed on the hangers or in the brackets supplied, mounted in cabinets, or set on shelves (NFPA 10, 1 -6.6), and shall be installed so that the top of the extinguisher is not more than 5 feet above the floor. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.6) (UFC 10.301) Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in plain view (if at all possible), or if not in plain view, they shall be identified with a sign stating, "Fire Extinguisher," with an arrow pointing to the unit. (NFPA 10, 1 -6.3) (UFC 10.301) 2. No point in a sprinklered building may be more than 200 feet from an exit, measured along the path of travel. (UBC 3302(d)) Exit doors shall be openable from the inside without the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort. Exit signs shall be installed at required exit doorways and where otherwise necessary to clearly indicate the direction of egress. Signs shall be of a contrasting color with the surrounding area and shall have letters not less than six inches high with a minimum letter width of 3/4 ". (UBC 3314) (UFC 12.108) Exits shall be illuminated at any time the building is occupied. An emergency system shall automatically provide exit illumination upon failure of the main power supply. All modifications to sprinkler systems shall have the written approval of the Washington Survey & Rating Bureau, Factory Mutual Engineering or Industrial Risk Insurers, then by the Fire Department. No sprinkler work shall commence without approved drawings. (City Ordinance #1528) (NFPA 13, 1 -9.1) (UFC 10.307) All sprinkler drawings shall be prepared by companies licensed to perform this type of work. Drawings shall first be approved by the Washington Survey & Rating Bureau, Factory Mutual Engineering or Industrial Risk Insurers, then by the Tukwila Fire Department. SPRINKLER, SYSTEM A. GENERAL 1. The work shall include a renovation of an existing sprinkler system per plane and specificatioes. governing codes and underwriters regulations and as follows: a. Sprinkler Systems for additional requirements. DUCTWORK AND ACCESSORIES • 1. Ductwork and Accessories hall be fabricated and 'install- in strict accordance with the 'Stoat edition of SMACNA except as herein noted and/or es detailed on the drawings. a Piberglass Duct Board shall not be utilized. Ductwork. plenum, etc. shall be constructed of sheet metal. b. Raditre elbows, 1/3 radius or full radius are to be utilized except within 20 feet of an air outlet; 1/3 radius elbows shall have a turning vane one gage heavier than duct construction. c. All duetwork dimensions indicated on plans are clear inside dimensions. Where duets are linee, ductwork is to be increased to maintain that free area. d. Mitered offsets greater than 30 degrees in either direction shall not be permitted. e. Volume eismpere *hall be single blade up to 6" in width and multi- . blade for larger sizes. Volume dampers shall have end bearings . and shell incorporate locking type indicating adjustment. f. Duct Hanger - Where ductwork exceeds 36 in the largest dimension trapeze hangers shall be utilized. 2. All new supply air dudtwerk and all outside air ductwork shall be insulated with '1' thick foil faced fiberglass duct insulation. Where existing duct insulation and/Or vapor bereiereis damaaed, it shall be repaired as specified here. . a. Insulation shall be adhered to.the bottom and sides of duct surface, except insulation patches less than our (4) square feet, with duct insulation adhesivi. The entire metal surface shall be coated by brush or sprayed With duct insulation adhesive: Insulation shall be pressed firmly into adhesive. b. Replace damaged insolation-mhieh Oonnot be repaired satisfactorily, including units with vapor barrier damage and moisture saturated units. Insulation Installer shell advise Contractor of required Protection for insulation work during remainder of construction period, to avoid damage and deterioration. 3. Pire dampers shall be U.L. approved and installed per manufacturers requirements for a UL, approved installation. Pire dampers shall be the type which have the blades and frame Completely out of the airstream where space permits. 4. Double thickness insulated access door* shall be provided at all fire dampers for access to fusible link. Door 0411 be sized to allow for easy service and accessibility.
