Dear Sir:
The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the

distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or less.
(NFPA 10, 3-1.1)
Extinguishers shall be installed on the hangers or in
the brackets supplied, mounted in cabinets, or set on

FROM: RSB
DATE: 3/9/92
SUBJECT: PHONE CONVERSATION WITH DAVE MAY
***************************** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * **
DAVE MAY CALLED TO CHECK ON STATUS OF THE RIVERSIDE WESTERN
WARE T.I. AFTER REVIEW OF A RESUBMITTAL THERE REMAINS SOME
ISSUES THAT ARE NOT CLEAR. WILL NOTE ON PLANS THE FOLLOWING
REQUIREMENTS:
1. A ONE HOUR OCCUPANCY SEPARATION IS REQUIRED BETWEEN THE
RETAIL SALES AREA AND THE LOUNGE AREA. SINCE THE CORRIDOR
THAT SEPARATES THESE TWO AREAS DOES NOT CREATE A COMPLETE
SEPARATION, THE PERIMETER WALL OF THE RETAIL SPACE MUST BE
EXTENDED FULL HEIGHT TO ROOF STRUCTRURE.
2. THE PAIR OF DOORS THAT OPEN ONTO THE EXISTING CORRIDOR,
WILL SERVE AS PROTECTION OF AN OPENING IN AN OCCUPANCY
SEPARATION WALL. THEREFORE, THESE DOORS MUST BE 1 -HOUR FIRE
RATED, AND IF THESE DOORS ARE TO REMAIN OPEN DURING BUSINESS
HOURS, THEY MUST BE EQUIPED WITH AUTOMATIC HOLD -OPEN
DEVICES, ACTIVATED BY SMOKE DETECTORS.
3. FIXED GLAZING AT WALL OPENINGS TO CORRIDOR ARE NOTED AS
1 -HOUR FIRE RATED. WILL REQUIRE DOCUMENTATION OF THIS
GLAZING, (LISTING).
REVIEWED OVERALL PLAN OF RIVERSIDE INN FACILITIES, AND IT
APPEARS THAT NO CHANGE WILL, DEVELOP IN THE EXISTING EXITING,
SINCE THE RETAIL SPACE WILL BE PROVIDED WITH INDEPENDENT
EXITING. EXITING FOR THE RETAIL SPACE MEETS THE
REQUIREMENTS OF CHAPTER 33, AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS
SPACE WILL NOT ADD TO ANY EXISTING NON COMPLIANCE.
ROUTE TO FIRE PREVENTION BUREAU THIS DATE.

CALLED DAVE MAY TO DISCUSS THE RESUBMITTAL ITEMS AND THE
OUTSTANDING ISSUES OF THE PROPOSED T.I. DAVE IS TO SUBMIT
AN OVERALL .PLAN OF THE RIVERSIDE INN SPACE TO SHOW THE
EXISTING EXITING TO ESTABLISH THE PROPRIETY OF ALLOWING
ACCESS BETWEEN THE WESTERN WARE SHOP AND THE LOUNGE.
I TOLD DAVE THAT A ONE HOUR OCCUPANCY SEPARATION WAS
REQUIRED BETWEEN THE RETAIL STORE AND THE ASSEMBLY OCCUPANCY
AND THIS MEANT THAT THE DRYWALL PROTECTION WOULD HAVE TO BE
CONTINUED UP TO STRUCTURE, OR RATED CEILING. AN ADDITIONAL
ISSUE WAS THE RATING ON THE GLASS LITES, THESE HAVE TO BE
TESTED ASSEMBLIES JUST AS DO THE DOORS.
RESUBMITTAL TO FOLLOW.
