The approval for the Opas permit mitigated the use of smoke detection to establish an exit corridors other than one -hour construction. The one -hour construction was not required by the office space occupant load per U.B.C. Section 1005.7 Exception 8. However, corridor construction was required for a second exit from Training room 5 through an adjoining room per U.B.C. Section 1003.5. rather than a new exit door directly to the outside. cc: D. The commercial tenant is OPAS. The building permit is D96 -0026. The requirement we discussed is the grab bar for the toilet in room 13 (shower). We will build a wall 3 feet long (as drawn) between the shower and toilet, mounting 30 inch grab bars behind and beside the toilet. This configuration allows ample access to the shower. Please note this tenant space provides four (4) additional restrooms that are fully accessible. Thank you very much.
