REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS
Minor Home Repair Program
Due by 5:00 p.m. on January 26, 2015
The City of Tukwila seeks statements of qualifications for a general contractor for a minor
home repair program for low and moderate income, city homeowners in 2015. Contractors will
be responsible for:
1) Receiving referrals for minor home repair projects, with previous screening, completed
through the Human Services manager.
2) Complete a requested home repair job. Contractor would be responsible for assessing the
work, purchasing the materials and performing work through completion.
3) Reporting back to the City identified personnel regarding the status of the job, hours of labor
expended, completion, and any unmet identified needs.
4) Billing the City in which the job was completed on a fee for service basis as to the job,
materials purchased and labor costs.
Examples of minor home repair jobs would include preventive maintenance and home repair
activities typically under $2,000.
The program is funded through Federal Community Development Block Grant dollars.
Contractor will need to be licensed with the State of Washington and familiar with basics of
plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, protective /preventative measures to keep a house, its
systems and grounds in working order. The contractor must carry adequate liability insurance
consistent with Tukwila's contract requirements and HUD required rules and regulations.
Bilingual skills encouraged, particularly in Spanish.
Statements of qualifications must be limited to two pages and include 1) Description of
experience in providing minor home repair services, 2) working with government, and
3) two customer references.
