Tukwila City Council Announces 2015 Reorganization
At the first regular Tukwila City Council meeting in 2015, Councilmember Kate Kruller was
elected by her peers to serve as the 2015 Council President for the City of Tukwila. "I am
honored to serve as the Council President in 2015 and look forward to working with my
colleagues and the Administration on behalf of the residents and businesses here in our great
City of Tukwila," commented Council President Kate Kruller.
In addition, the Council committee structure will be as follows in 2015:
Community Affairs and Parks Committee - second and fourth Mondays of every month
at City Hall at 5:30 p.m.
Chair: Verna Seal
Members: Dennis Robertson, Allan Ekberg
Finance and Safety Committee — first and third Tuesdays at City Hall at 5:30 p.m.
Chair: Kathy Hougardy
Members: Joe Duffie, De'Sean Quinn
Utilities Committee- second and fourth Tuesdays at the 6300 building in the Public
Works Department at 5:30 p.m.
Chair: Dennis Robertson
Members: Verna Seal, De'Sean Quinn
Transportation Committee —first and third Mondays at the 6300 building in the Public
Works Department at 5:30 p.m.
Chair: Joe Duffie
Members: Allan Ekberg, Kathy Hougardy
The Tukwila City Council has an annual reorganization in the first meeting in January, and
Council Presidents are historically chosen in a rotating fashion based on seniority. Committees
are assigned by the new Council President who also determines who will serve as Committee
Chairs.

Tukwila's elected officials have a long history of involvement in additional committees, boards
and commissions. Currently, Tukwila's mayor and councilmembers are involved in the
following activities:
National:
• National League of Cities' Information Technology and Communications Steering

• National League of Cities' Transportation Infrastructure and Services Steering

• National League of Cities' Council on Youth, Education and Families;

• Administrative Board of SCORE (South Correctional Entity)

• Sound Cities Association's Public Issues Committee
• Sound Cities Association's Regional Law Safety and Justice Committee
• Water Resource Inventory Area 9 (WRIA 9)

In addition, the Mayor and Council are involved in numerous other organizations that do not
include formal appointment or designation, such as the Tukwila International Boulevard Action
Committee, Puget Sound Regional Council, Tukwila Children's Foundation, Tukwila Historical
Society, Tukwila Pantry, Tukwila School District — Providers' Meeting, Tukwila Elementary —
Safety Meeting, and the Southside Rotary.
