HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-03-02 Transportation MinutesCity Of Tukwila • Transportation Committee TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes March 2, 2015 — 5:15 p.m. — Foster Conference Room, 6300 Building PRESENT Councilmembers: Joe Duffie, Chair; Allan Ekberg, Kathy Hougardy Staff: David Cline, Bob Giberson, Frank Iriarte, Robin Tischmak, Gail Labanara, Laurel Humphrey CALL TO ORDER: Committee Chair Duffie called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. I. PRESENTATIONS II. BUSINESS AGENDA A. Non - Recreational Parking at Foster Golf Links Staff provided an update on a plan to limit use of the parking lot at Foster Golf Links to golf customers for periods of six hours or less beginning April 1, 2015 to coincide with golf season. Public notice will be given via the following actions: • Placement of advance warning A -frame signs in early March to educate lot users • Distribution of advance warning fliers on non - recreational user vehicles in early March • Installation of six 12x18" signs stating: 6 -hour parking for recreational use only, violators will be towed • Violation notices will be issued as of April 1 with recording of date, car information and license plate numbers • Towing of vehicle upon third recorded violation. Committee members and staff discussed the necessity of limiting parking at the Foster Golf Links lot but acknowledged that Metro Transit riders are still facing the impacts of the closure of the small park and ride annex on Interurban. Staff confirmed that King County Metro does not have plans to renew or expand parking at the Interurban Ave S Park & Ride. Committee Chair Duffie is also concerned about more street parking in the neighborhood that will also require enforcement. This item was also presented by Parks & Recreation Staff at the February 23, 2015 Community Affairs & Parks Committee. INFORMATION ONLY. III. SCATBd No report was given. IV. MISCELLANEOUS Councilmember Ekberg serves on the Foster High Centennial Committee and inquired about the possibility of using Tukwila Village site land for overflow parking for March 21, 2015 centennial festivities. Staff will look into this possibility and report back. Councilmember Hougardy noted that as of March 1 King County Metro is implementing a 25 cent fare increase along with a new reduced fare program for riders at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
