The group discussed an approach suggested by Melissa Hart regarding allocation of funds ($3,200 in
2015) that would provide for marketing materials at events, grant awards, supplies for the Commission,
translation needs, etc. and still be flexible enough to address unanticipated needs. This will be discussed
further at the March meeting.

Jenny McCoy provided an update on the SnackPack program. About 75 packs were sent home with
students from Thorndyke, and the youth group wrote personal notes to include in the packs. She
inquired as to whether or not the SnackPack program could have a collection bin at City Hall or the 6300
building. Joyce will follow up with her. She shared that King County Executive Constantine is visiting
Thorndyke on February 19 to learn more about the program and meet volunteers.
Joan Hernandez recommended that everyone see the movie McFarland USA — a very good family movie.
The group discussed the possibility of sponsoring /hosting a movie night at Showalter.
Joyce shared that Community Connectors would be interesting in attending future E/D meetings, when
appropriate.
