1. Please assign a definite and permanent address to this space
from the series of addresses assigned to this building in 1972.
2. The occupant load of this space is 64 occupants. Therefore,
two (2) exits are required. These exits must be placed at
least one —fifth the perimeter of the space apart,
1/5 p = 110 feet. UBC Table 33 —A, UBC Sec. 3302 (c).
Because an exit pathway from the warehouse goes through
the office area; the corridor, the general office area
and the reception area must be made to comply with a one—
hour enclosure. This would include ceilings, walls and
labeled door and jamb assemblies. UBC Sec. 3304 (g).
Please find enclosed one copy of the Tukwila Fire Department plans
review of your project.

Scientific Co.
In reviewing the above mentioned project plans, please note
the following items:
1. One additional exit is required per UBC Sec. 3302.
2. All doors, including exits shall be identified
per OSHA Section 1910.37 (q).
3. Per UBC Sec. 3303, exit doors shall swing in the
direction of travel when serving an occupant load
of 50 or more.
Per UFC Sec. 10.104 (b), "All doors in or leading
to exits shall be maintained openable from the
inside without the use of a key or any special
knowledge or effort at all times when the build-
ing or area served thereby is occupied".
Sprinkler system shall be extended to cover all
office areas. Hose station coverage shall be
maintained per Ordinance #730.
Areas around and in front of sprinkler risers and
electrical power panels are to be kept clear of
all materials for a distance of 3 feet. To assist
this requirement, please paint a 4 inch wide RED
stripe on the floor 3 feet in front of and 3 feet
on each side of the risers and panels. Inside
these red lines, paint 4inch.high letters stating
"KEEP CLEAR".
5. Fire extinguishers shall be provided per NFPA #10,
as a minimum requirement.
When,in the opinion of the Fire Prevention Bureau,
building contents or operations therein are of a
hazardous nature, additional extinguishers ( in
excess of NFRA requirements) may be required.
Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in
plain view (if at all possible). If not in plain
view, they shall be identified with a sign stating,
"FIRE EXTINGUISHER" with an arrow pointing.
When extinguishers are hung on posts or columns,
the post or- oolumn shall be painted bright red for
a distance of 12 inches down from the ceiling
(or roof).
If the color of extinguishers is other than red,
they shall be provided with a background or mounting
board, red in color, not less than 2 square feet in
size.
Please include these comments in your review of the above
mentioned project.
