MINUTES
Council President Duffie called the Tukwila City Council
Committee of the Whole Meeting to order and led the audience
and the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance.
MABEL J. HARRIS, DORIS E. PHELPS, JOE H. DUFFIE (COUNCIL
PRESIDENT), WENDY A. MORGAN, CHARLES E. SIMPSON, MARILYN G.
STOKNES.
Mayor Van Dusen introduced Jack Pace, Planner, to the Council
Members.
Mayor Van Dusen presented Leslie Campbell, Chairman of the
Arts Commission. She showed a drawing of a mural that will
be on the cement wall of the Police Department. Work on it
is scheduled to begin in two weeks.
MOVED BY PHELPS, SECONDED BY SIMPSON, THAT THE PROPOSED
RESOLUTION BE PLACED ON THE AGENDA OF A REGULAR MEETING AT
THE DISCRETION OF THE COUNCIL PRESIDENT. MOTION CARRIED.

COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING Council Chambers
Mayor Van Dusen reported on Tukwila's 2000 Committee and their
recommendation for the development of a City -wide Marketing
Plan for 1987.
Don Morrison, Administrative Assistant, stated there is another
request from Cable TV that will require a change in the ordinance.
MOVED BY HARRIS, SECONDED BY SIMPSON, THAT THE MATTER BE PLACED
IN THE UTILITIES COMMITTEE. MOTION CARRIED.
Pam Thorsen, Tukwila Chamber of Commerce, stated they are
concerned about the continuing CIP. They need to know and
understand the needs and desires of the City. They would like
the City to prepare for the future.
Council President Duffie opened the Public Hearing at 8:10 p.m.
The Chamber of Commerce stated there is a survey going out to
businesses. Transportation is the most vital problem.
Jim Haggerton, audience, stated Tukwila needs a marketing plan.
There being no further comments, Council President Duffie
closed the Public Hearing at 8:17 p.m.
MOVED BY PHELPS, SECONDED BY SIMPSON, THAT THE COUNCIL APPROVE
THE MINUTES OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING HELD AUGUST 25,
1986 AS PUBLISHED. MOTION CARRIED.

Procedures for filling Council President Duffie stated if it is the consensus of the

Street Lights out on Council President Duffie reported there is a street light
