As THE NEW OWNER OF AN AIR -TIGHT STEPDOWN STOVE, YOU CAN EXPECT MANY YEARS OF COMFORTABLE HEAT AND
SAVINGS AS COMPARED TO A CONVENTIONAL HEATING SYSTEM, TO ASSURE THAT YOUR STOVE OPERATES PROPERLY
AND SAFELY, THOROUGHLY READ THROUGH THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE INSTALLATION,
THIS STOVE HAS BEEN TESTED TO RIGID UNDERWRITER'S LABORATORIES STANDARDS BY WARNOCK HERSEY PROFES-
SIONAL SERVICES LIMITED AND IS LISTED TO U,L., U.L.C. AND 1.C.B4O. SPECIFICATIONS. THE INSTALLATION
OF A WOODBURNING STOVE MUST ALSO MEET LOCAL BUILDING CODES AND ORDINANCES, BE SURE TO CHECK ON THE
SPECIFIC CODES IN YOUR CITY AND /OR STATE BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR STOVE.
MATERIALS
MOST HARDWARE OR BUILDING MATERIAL STORES CARRY THE PROPER STOVE INSTALLATION MATERIALS WHICH ARE
APPROVED FOR THAT PURPOSE, CONSULT YOUR DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, THE FOL-
LOWING MATERIALS ARE REQUIRED TO PROPERLY AND SAFELY INSTALL YOUR NEW STEPDOWN STOVE:
ITEM 1: (1) - 8" SINGLE WALL PIPE SYSTEM (FROM STOVE TO CEILING), 24 GAUGE MINIMUM THICKNESS STEEL,
ITEM 2: (1) - U.L. LISTED, INSULATED, LOW-HEAT CHIMNEY SYSTEM (THROUGH COMBUSTIBLE WALLS, CEILINGS,
ATTIC AND ROOF).
ITEM 3: (1) - HEARTH EXTENSION, WHICH MUST BE MOUNTED UNDER THE STOVE, MADE FROM A MINIMUM OF 3/8
. INCH THICK ASBESTOS, MILLBOARD, MASONRY OR EQUIVALENT NON-COMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL, 48"

STEP 1: REMOVE THE STOVE FROM ITS CARTON AND CHECK TO BE SURE IT IS COMPLETE AND THAT THE EIHASiv Ote!"
BEEN NO DAMAGE FROM SHIPPING. IF YOU DISCOVER DAMAGE, REPORT IT TO THE FREIGHT LINE THAT
DELIVERED YOUR STOVE. IF YOUR STOVE WAS PICKED UP FROM A DEALER'S STORE, OR DELIVERED BY HIM, MAKE
ANY CLAIMS DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, INSPECT YOUR STOVE AND MAKE SURE ALL PARTS
ARE IN-PLACE AND OPERATE PROPERLY PER THE OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS.
STEP 2: LOCATE THE AREA WHERE THE STOVE IS DESIRED, DETERMINE WHERE THE CEILING JOISTS ARE LOCA-
TED AND POSITION YOUR STOVE SO THAT THE CHIMNEY PENETRATION THROUGH THE CEILING AND ROOF
WILL BE BETWEEN CEILING JOISTS, MINIMUM CLEARANCES MUST BE MAINTAINED BETWEEN THE STOVE AND ANY
COMBUSTIBLE WALL. THE MINIMUM CLEARANCES FROM THE STOVE TO COMBUSTIBLE WALLS ARE SHOWN IN FIGURE 1,
PAGE 2,
STEP 3: SET YOUR HEARTH EXTENSION AND STOVE IN POSITION, MAKING SURE THE HEARTH EXTENSION EXTENDS
8" FROM THE BACK OF THE STOVE, 18" FROM THE FRONT OF THE STOVE, AND.B" FROM EITHER SIDE,
AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 1, PAGE 2.
STEP 4: LOCATE THE POSITION OF THE HOLE IN YOUR CEILING AND ROOF BY USING A STRING AND PLUMB-BOB,
LINING UP THE PLUMB -BOB WITH THE 8" STACK ON TOP OF THE STOVE. CUT THE HOLES PER THE
CHIMNEY MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED WITH THE CHIMNEY SYSTEM YOU HAVE SELECTED (ITEM 2).
STEP 5: INSTALL THE CHIMNEY SYSTEM (ITEM 2) PER THE CHIMNEY MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS. USE ONLY
U,L, LISTED, INSULATED CHIMNEY THROUGH THE ATTIC, ROOF OR WITHIN CLOSED AREAS THROUGH TO
THE CAP, TO MEET CODE, THE CHIMNEY MUST EXTEND ABOVE THE. ROOF A MINIMUM OF 3 FEET, AND A MINIMUM OF
2 FEET ABOVE ANY AREA OF THE ROOF WITHIN TEN FEET FROM THE PIPE (SEE FIGURE 2, PAGE 2). A 2" CLEAR-
ANCE TO ADJACENT COMBUSTIBLES MUST BE MAINTAINED WITH A CLASS A CHIMNEY,
STEP 6: INSTALL THE SINGLE WALL PIPE (ITEM 1), MALE END DOWN,' INSIDE THE STOVE STACK, MAINTAINING
A MINIMUM CLEARANCE OF 18" TO COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS, THIS PROCEDURE WILL PREVENT CREOSOTE
OR TAR FROM SEEPAGE ON TO THE STOVE SURFACE. IF YOU INTEND TO INSTALL A DAMPER, POSITION THE DAMPER
18" ABOVE YOUR.STOVE, FASTEN EACH PIPE CONNECTION WITH AT LEAST (3) SHEET METAL SCREWS.
