Pursuant to Chapter 29, Section 2903(b) of the 1982 Uniform Building Code
(UBC), under which Permit No. 2971 was issued, it is required that "Any
person making or causing an excavation to be made to a depth of 12 feet or
less below the grade shall protect the excavation so that the soil of ad-
joining property will not cave in or settle."
To comply with the requirements of Section 2903(b) of the 1982 UBC, the
City of Tukwila Building Department will require that a retaining wall be
built at the cut slope along your west property line; or that a Soils
Engineering Report, prepared by a soils engineer licensed in the State of.
Washington and bearing his certification seal, be submitted to indicate
that the soil of adjoining property will not cave in or settle because of
the cut slope on your property.
This will have to be brought into compliance prior to final approval o
your project and prior to any occupancy of this residence.
