BUILDING DEPT.
WOOD INSULATION STOPS, the same thickness as the insulation, shall be at-
tached at the edges of the deck and around all projections through the deck.
These stops shall be 6 inches wide or 1 Inch wider than flanges being nailed to
them. THE ROOF DECK shall be firm, clean, dry and smooth during the ap-
plication of insulation and felts. ROOF INSULATION shall be applied in approv-
ed manner with Joints staggered. PERMAGLAS INSUL -BASE shall be applied
so flow of water is over or parallel to, but never against, the laps. It shall be
lapped 2" on sides and 6" on ends. Apply PERMAGLAS INSUL•BASE dry,
without asphalt. During windy conditions a light spot mopping over top of
sheet or nailing may be necessary to temporarily secure the sheet to the in-
sulation. Install two piles of ULTRA PLY in shingle fashion, lapping 19" with a
17" exposure. Embed the full width of each ply sheet in hot asphalt applied at
a uniform rate of 25 lbs. per 100 square feet. Each ply shall be lightly broomed
as it is applied. All plies shall be turned up 2" above the top of the cant and
shall be solid mopped to the cant and vertical wall. VALLEYS AND WATER-
WAYS shall receive an extra layer of ULTRA PLY which shall be at least 36"
wide and shall extend 8" up the Inclines out of the valleys set in a uniform
mopping of asphalt at the rate of 25 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. ULTRA CAP shall be
cut Into 12' to 18' lengths and allowed to flatten. Apply ULTRA CAP with 2"
side laps and 6" end laps. Adjacent end laps shall be staggered with a
minimum of 3' apart. Embed the full width of each sheet In a uniform 25 Ib.
mopping of steep asphalt.
* All Application Recommendations from "General Recommendations" Section
are considered part of these specifications.

PERMAGLAS PERMATHERM BONDED
RIGID INSULATION
PERLITEI URETHANE COMPOSITE
METAL DECK, CLASS I
Suitable for FM- approved Class I roof system and UL- Construction I and II.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
PERMAGLAS PERMATHERM Bonded is constructed
of rigid closed -cell urethane foam attached during the
forming process to a 3/4" fire resistant expanded
mineral "perlite" base. PERMAGLAS PERMATHERM
Bonded is available top surfaced with glass fiber'
membranes coated with shingle grade asphalt.
PERMAGLAS PERMATHERM Bonded combines the
high insulating efficiency of urethane foam with the
fire resistance and dimensional stability of perlite
board to provide a superior rigid insulating system.
PERMAG LAS PERMATHERM Bonded has rated fire
resistance, and is approved as a component of
UL Roof Deck Construction Metal Deck Assemblies
Construction Nos. 1& 2, and FM System Class I
Insulated Steel Deck Construction.
PERMAGLAS PERMATHERM Bonded provides more
insulating value per inch of thickness than other types
of "traditional" insulating material. The result is a
reduced thickness and weight required to obtain the
desired insulating value. This allows more efficient
and economical application especially when wood
nailers or mechanical fasteners are used.
PERMAGLAS PERMATHERM Bonded is designed for
use over structural decks where UL and FM Con-
struction I Standards are mandatory. Where Class I fire
resistance ratings are not required, specify PERMA-
GLAS PERMATHERM Rigid insulation.
PERMAGLAS PERMATHERM Bonded is available in
standard 48" x 48" boards. Longer sizes are available
on request.
PERMAGLAS requires use of PERMAGLAS VENTED
"INSUL•BASE" with all roof systems utilizing PERMA-
THERM or PERMATHERM BONDED rigid insulation.
LIMITATIONS:
PERMAGLAS PERMATHERM urethane roof insulation
is a non - structural, non - loadbearing board. It is not
designed for direct traffic usage unless adequately
protected.
PERMAGLAS PERMATHERM urethane roof insulation
should be stored dry and protected from the elements.
No more insulation should be installed than can be
completely covered the same day. As an unprotected
urethane will burn, fire safety precautions must be
observed wherever it is used.
