Description of Incident
On 03/24/15 at approximately 16:10 hours Tukwila Police were dispatched to a call of 6
to 7 juveniles "causing problems" in the parking lots of the 100 block of Andover Park
West. While police were in route, further information came in to police that updated the
incident to15 subjects fighting. (Please note that previous information that was released
at the scene indicated that there were 50 subjects involved in the fight — this information
was inaccurate, and is corrected in this release)
Tukwila officers arrived on scene; however, the involved individuals had dispersed. As
the officers were arriving, an officer heard the sounds of multiple gun shots coming from
the 100 block of Andover Park West in the parking lots on the east side of the street.
An officer saw a silver sedan occupied by multiple subjects fleeing at a high rate of
speed from the parking lot where the shots came from. Officers initiated a stop of the
vehicle, but the driver of the vehicle attempted to elude police. A pursuit ensued.
While the pursuit took place, other officers were still searching the area for potential
victims of the fight and gunshots. One victim was located in an adjacent parking lot
from where the shots were fired. The victim was a 17 year old male that had been shot
once in the lower back. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The
victim's status was serious at the time he was transported from the scene. We are
waiting on an update from the hospital.
The pursuit ended at the King County Transfer station at 18800 Orilla Rd S. where the
occupants of the vehicle abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Five subjects (four
young adult males and a juvenile teenage female) were immediately located and
detained for questioning, while two more subjects were later located hiding in the
surrounding bushes. All subjects that were detained are being booked for assault
charges at this time with further charges pending continued investigation.
