TukwilaWa.gov March 2, 2015 Jim Ha g rton, Mayor The following commissioners attended the regularly scheduled meeting of the Tukwila Civil Service Commission: Ron Johnston, Stephen Wheeler and Dennis Sivak. Others in attendance were Assistant Fire Chief Mike Soss, Deputy Police Chief Bruce Linton, President of IAFF Local 92088 Dawn Judkins, and Kim Gilman, Civil Service Examiner. CALL TO ORDER 5:00 p.m. Chair Ron Johnston called the 'meeting to order. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Chair asked if there were any corrections needed for the February 2nd Commission Meeting minutes. Deputy Chief Linton reported a correction. He clarified that the department is working to fill I pipeline position (candidate currently in background). The minutes were revised to include the correction. FIRE DEPARTMENT Staffing Update Fire Assistant Chief Soss reported that the Department currently has 2members out on long -term disability. There are 4 entry -level firefighter candidates currently in background. The Department plans to hire these 4 in time to start the Academy on April 8th talion Chief Position This item was tabled until a future meeting. ion Revision Fire Battalion Chief Test The test process outline for the position of Fire Battalion Chief was distributed to the Commissioners. Assistant Chief Soss noted that the test will include both a Tactical Exam and an Assessment Center, but that the weights for each were changed to reflect 45% for the Tactical and 55% for the Assessment Center. He stated that he met with the union prior to this meeting, and that the union was in agreement with the change in weights. Applications from th internal candidates will be accepted starting March 9. 17 K VN/ POLICE DEPARTMENT BUSINESS Staffing Update Deputy Chief Linton reported that the Polic currently fully staffed with 75 commission( which, 3 are currently in FTO training).
