Seattle Theatre Group AileyCamp will launch in June 2016,
offering a free six -week camp for underserved youth ages
11 — 14. AileyCamp combines disciplined dance training,
creative writing instruction, personal development and
communications workshops to support youth in developing
respect for themselves and others, to make choices in the
future that positively impact their lives.

Conceived in 1989 by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater,
this vital program has provided direction and hope to
thousands of youth who are most in need of knowing there
can be a bright future. The Seattle Theatre Group AileyCamp
will be the 10th site in the United States, serving Seattle,
South King County and Tacoma with an inspiring program
that presents positive themes and provides role models and
mentors for young people from disadvantaged families.
Seattle Theatre Group has presented Alvin Ailey American
Dance Theater in Seattle for over 15 years. STG AileyCamp
deepens this partnership and is in memory of longtime Ailey
company leader, STG friend and Tacoma native Calvin Hunt.
