MINUTES
April 7, 2015 5:00 p.m. Tukwila Community Center
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair, Steve Mullet at 5:05 pm

Guests: Rainier Symphony Board Members: Eric Tishkoff, President and Susan Reynolds
Susan, Vice President
Presentation: Rainier Symphony Board President, Eric Tishkoff and Vice President, Susan Reynolds, were
present to provide an overview of the Rainier Symphony's accomplishments and future goals. Ms. Reynolds
provided a brief history of the Rainier Symphony. The Symphony has been in existence for 34 years and is
made up of 70 volunteer musicians, many of whom have volunteered for several years (in some instances
decades). Mr. Tishkoff provided an overview of current affairs. Right now there isn't a director /conductor, the
board invited guest conductors to lead one concert each throughout 2016, and the same will happen next year
however the guest conductors will be candidates for the director /conductor role. The Board continues to seek
opportunities for connection with the community, especially with the citizens of Tukwila and the Tukwila School
District. The Arts Commission provided several ideas for connection and Stephanie will follow up with ways to
connect with the community through Parks and Recreation and the City.
Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the March 3, 2015 meeting were unanimously approved.

a. Municipal Arts Fund: Stephanie Gardner -Brown provided a brief status update regarding the
development of guidelines and procedures for the 1 % of Capital Project Funding for Public Art.
She explained City staff continue to work on draft implementation procedures and guidelines.
Stephanie is also in the process of coordinating a work session with 4Culture to provide
information about public art integration within projects, this session will be open to City staff
members.
b. 19th Annual Tukwila Fine Arts Show: Stephanie distributed postcards that were mailed to over
250 artists. She also provided information about websites where show information has been
posted.
c. Art display panels: Stephanie provided information about Art Display panels, the Commission
selected panels and Cynthia Chesak made a motion to purchase panels from ProPanels, along
with necessary hardware. The motion was seconded by Brian Kennedy, all were in favor and the
motion carried.
a. Cynthia Chesak provided information about the final shows being performed this school year.
The shows will be on May 201h and May 21St
