HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 1214 - Comprehensive Plan Citizen Steering Committee ILA g ip( 1906 CITY OF TUKWILA WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 1214 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, INCREASING CITIZEN REPRESENTATION ON THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN CITIZEN STEERING COMMITTEE AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 1207. WHEREAS, the City Council and the Mayor created by Resolution No. 1207 a Comprehensive Plan Citizen Steering Committee for the purpose of reviewing, discussing and proposing policies and standards for the community's Comprehensive Plan; and WHEREAS, the City Council and the Mayor have determined that additional public participation is needed on the Steering Committee to best represent the interests of all Tukwila citizens; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: A seventeen member Comprehensive Plan Citizen Steering Committee is formed to review, discuss and propose policies and standards on the following seven elements: Land Use, Transportation, Housing, Utilities, Shoreline, Economic Development and Capital Financing based upon guidelines provided by the City Council. The Committee is charged with recommending a draft plan to the Planning Commission. The Mayor shall appoint, and the City Council concur, with a Committee composed of voting members from each of the five Vision Tukwila neighborhoods as follows: Five voting members from Area I, three voting members each from Areas II, III, IV, and V. Its members shall represent a variety of interests and backgrounds to be representative of the community as a whole and at least 11 of its members shall reside in the City and represent the residential neighborhood. The Committee's meetings shall be open and allow for public comment. The Committee will decide on its operating rules of procedure. Additional public involvement techniques, in order to gain a greater understanding of the vision of the complete community, may be authorized by the City Council. If the Committee loses members during the process, the Mayor shall appoint and the Council concur, on a replacement from the appropriate neighborhood. RESOLUTION NO. 1207 IS HEREBY RESCINDED.
