The City has created the Committee to further study the benefits and costs of a potential annexation. Our expectation is that they will have a recommendation by November of 2015. Messaging and Outreach The Kent RFA is a natural choice for a provider because they are a stable organization, the City has a successful collaborative relationship with them, and they are a proven professional, high performing organization. Annexation into the RFA provides fiscal stability for fire and emergency medical services because of the fire benefit charge, which is not available to cities and which must be reauthorized by the voters every six years. Messaging and Outreach The City is exploring the RFA option in order to ensure the long term fiscal health of Tukwila. The City is committed to an open, transparent process while exploring annexing into the RFA and encourages participation in and feedback for this effort.
