At 11:44pm on August 3, 2015 a call was made to 911 reporting a fire from an unknown
source in the 19600 Block of Orillia Road South. One engine from Tukwila Fire and an
engine from the Kent Fire Authority responded. On their arrival, they found a 5th Wheel
trailer fully involved in flames. The fire was extending into the nearby brush.
The first arriving engine upgraded the alarm to a working fire. This upgrade brought a
total of five engines, two ladder trucks, two Battalion Chiefs, a medic unit and Zone 3
Rehab to the call.
Orillia Road South was shut down in both directions for a short time between S. 200th
Street and South 188th, due to fire hose laid across the street. All lanes, but one
southbound lane, are now open.
Upon arrival crews also found an adult male with serious burns to his upper body.
Medics on the scene treated the victim and transported him to Harborview Medical
Center. His injuries were serious, but did not appear to be life threatening. It was
reported to us the adult male was part of security for the property.
Crews did a quick and aggressive attack on the fire and contained it to just the 5th
Wheel and a little bit of the surrounding brush.
No other civilians were injured, and no firefighters were injured at the fire.
One crew is still on scene in case the fire flares up again. Investigators were on scene
and will resume their investigation during daylight hours in the morning.
