*National Night Out Against Crime was started in
1984 by the National Association of Town Watch
(NATW).
*It was a call for neighbors to turn on porch
lights and get together to tell criminals in the
community that the good folks would not be
held hostage in their own houses.

*Now NNO is celebrated in all 50 states, U.S.
Territories, Canadian cities and military bases
worldwide.
*This annual event, held on the first Tuesday in
August, promotes police- community
partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

*In Tukwila, National Night out is celebrated in over
20 neighborhoods spread throughout the City.
*Mayor Haggerton has issued a proclamation
declaring August 4th 2015 as National Night Out
Against Crime.
*While the purpose of this event is to promote police
and community partnerships, the Tukwila Police
Department invites staff from all City of Tukwila
Departments to join PD staff in visiting all the
neighborhood events in the City.

*Most of the Tukwila Night Out Against Crime
events are in private homes, so the Tukwila
Police Department does not publish a list of all
NNO events.
*This year some of the events which have been
advertised publicly are:
* The Church By the Side of the Road (S 148th /TIB)
* America's Best Value Inn (14800 Interurban)
* Tukwila Parks Night at Crestview Park (16200 -42nd S)
