Attendance: Sharon Kidd (Chair), Linda McLeod, Steve Miller (Treasurer), Marie Parrish, Gerie Ventura (Secretary /Vice
Chair)
Staff. Stephanie Gardner (Tukwila Parks), John Shellar (KCLS)
Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm
Approval of minutes: Reviewed the March Friends Minutes. Marie moved to accept the minutes as written. Sharon
seconded, all were in favor and the motion passed.
Treasurer's Report
Steve reported that the current balance in the Friends account is $2,854.88. We earned $25.01 from Thrift Books
online book sales of our recent book sale books. We get 50% of all sales. We earn 12 -14 cents dividend from Prevail
Credit Union each month.
Business Items
Sharon reported that the Teen Club is proposing a read -a -thon with a $5,000 goal. Sharon asked Stephanie what
the money from the city is for. Stephanie said it is "to encourage literacy ". Stephanie suggested that a better
proposal would be to ask for general support and t -shirts could be a part of that. She also asked about the "big
picture ", have they talked to the Tukwila city Teen Coordinator. The city has a local vendor that they use for t-
shirts.
2. The May 6 meeting will beat 6:OOpm at the Foster Library so that we the Teen Club members can present their
project to us.
3. John reported that Linda recently volunteered at a "Many Voices, One Land" KCLS diversity event, which Linda
enjoyed.
Adjournment: It was moved by Marie to adjourn the meeting and seconded by Linda and the meeting was adjourned at
7:20pm.
