Attendance: Sharon Kidd (Vice Chair), Linda McLeod, Steve Miller (Chair), Gerie Ventura (Secretary)
Staff. Stephanie Gardner (Tukwila Parks)
Staff Reports:
1. Stephanie reported that there is a Dr. Seuss night on Thursday, February 27 from 6 -8pm. The City of
Tukwila has a partnership with the local Barnes & Noble. Friends are invited to attend. Linda and Gerie
will attend. Sharon will let Stephanie know later.
2. Stephanie will not attend the March meeting, but a staff person from the Parks & Rec organization will
be here and others will be rotated in throughout the year.
Business Items:
1. Election of TLAB officers for 2014/2015. Marie nominated Sharon to be Chair, Sharon assumes that
Steve is the Treasurer, Marie and Linda nominated Gerie as Secretary and Vice Chair. All positions were
accepted and approved.
2. Sharon asked about Bill Ptacek. John reported that today was Bill's last day at KCLS as Director, where
he served for 25 years. Bill is going to Calgary, Canada. The KCLS Board of Trustees is working to hire
an executive search firm and hope to report to the board by the end of February. The process will take
months and John will continue to report progress to us. Julie Brand (former Director of Community
Relations) is the acting director.
3. Marie read a Thank You note from Bill. He asks that in lieu of gifts, that people donate money to the
KCLS Tukwila Library Mosaic fundraising campaign. We all noted how kind that gesture was for
Tukwila.
4. The Tukwila cluster just launched new adult services programming, shifting into more learning
opportunities. Foster is still struggling with getting adult participation at events. Summer is the new Adult
Services Librarian. She was the Teen Services Librarian. John shared the new Adult Programming
brochure with us.
