RESOLUTION NO. 1224 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, RATIFYING THE
COUNTY -WIDE PLANNING POLICIES ADOPTED BY
KING COUNTY PURSUANT TO THE GROWTH
MANAGEMENT ACT.
WHEREAS, RCW 36.70A.210 (Growth Management Act) requires that,through a
process agreed to by King County, the City of Seattle and incorporated suburban cities and
towns, King County as the legislative authority adopt county-wide planning policies no later
than July 1, 1992; and
WHEREAS, King County, Seattle, and the suburban cities and towns established a
process for the development of such county -wide planning policies by interlocal agreement; and
WHEREAS, King County adopted county-wide planning policies as required by RCW
36.70A.210 pursuant to Ordinance No. 10450 passed on July 1, 1992; and
WHEREAS, the county -wide planning policies provide the initial strategies to be used
by Seattle and suburban cities and towns to achieve a vision for King County; and
WHEREAS, in adopting Ordinance No. 10450, King County expressly conditioned its
adoption upon completion of the Phase II SEIS and fiscal analysis, and the county
comprehensive plan amendments and regulations to implement the county -wide policies, subject
to completion of the ratification process provided for in Ordinance No. 10450; and
WHEREAS, King County Ordinance No. 10450 provides for a ratification process
requiring 30% of the jurisdictions in King County representing at least 70% of the population to
ratify the county -wide planning policies adopted by King County by October 1, 1992; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to ratify the county -wide planning policies
adopted by King County,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City of Tukwila, acting pursuant to that certain interlocal agreement
among King County, the City of Seattle, and Suburban Cities and Towns in King County for the
Growth Management Planning Council of King County, hereby ratifies the county-wide
planning policies and amendment process adopted by King County pursuant to Ordinance No.
10450 passed on July 1, 1992 which is incorporated herein by reference.
Section 2. The City of Tukwila pledges to cooperatively participate in the
amendment process contained in King County Ordinance No. 10450 to refine, amend and
complete the county -wide planning policies, fiscal analysis and supplemental EIS.
Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to
the King County Council.
