Strapping shall be at points within the upper one -third and lower one -third of the water heater's vertical dimension. A support consisting of a minimum 4 x 4 post with a footing 16" x 16" minimum size and 12" depth below grade should be added. A minimum of 6 — 16d nails may be used to connect the post at the top. A Simpson PB44 post base unit is suggested for the connection at the bottom. 3) The revisions to the roof framing system in the room at the rear are structurally sound and in fact appear to be an improvement over the original construction.
