HomeMy WebLinkAbout1925-12-10 Regular MinutesThe regular monthly meting of the Council of the Town of Tukwila was Balled to order by the Mayor on the above date at 8:10 P. M. ?resent were Councilmen G. V. Harrison, Fred Nord, A. G. Berg, J. A. Kunz and J. R. Naylor. The minutes of the last regular meeting were read by the Clerk and approved as read. BILLS The following bills were read by the Clerk and after be- ing approved by the Finance Committee, it was regularly moved, seconded and carried that they be paid and warrants be drawn for the respective amounts. COMMUNICATIONS Russ Lambert Seattle 416.50 Tukwila Grocery Tukwila 2.50 Forest Gott 42.00 D. A. Newton 10.00 TOTAL 468.00 The Town Treasurer's monthly report was read by the Clerk and ordered placed on file. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES Mr. Harrison Street Committee. Kenney Boulevard drain work started but not completed. Main Street in need of small amount of work to fill in and drain the hollows. After some discussion a motion waa made, seconded and carried that this work be done. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Mayor Bergquist reported that he had approached the Puget Sound Power and Light Co. with reference to having a local paying station for their bills but had had no reply from them and would take the matter up with them again. NEW BUSINESS CURRENT EXPENSE FUND Tukwila, Wash., December 10. 1925. Mr. Gade appeared before the Council and stated that no light had as yet been installed on Bluff Street. Mayor Berg quist stated that he would again take this matter up with the Puget Sound Power Light Co. Mr. Harrison brought up the matter of firing shotguns and other fir•earmo within the Town limits. After a general discussio; Ordinance No. 109 entitled "An Ordinance Prohib- iting the Discharge of Firearms Within the Corporate Limits of the Town of Tukwila" was introduced and on motion duly seconded, was passed by the Council. December 10, 1925. Mr. Wallenberg appeared before the Council and asked permission to build a garage. Permit granted. Mr. Cardell appeared before the Council and requested a permit to build a chicken house. Permit granted. Reports were made by var? us citizens as to the condition of Warren and Second avenues. Matter referred to the Street Committee to investigate and report backat tilt next .eeetLnr' Mr. Harrison introduced correspondence with the City of Seattle relative to securing Meter for the Town of Tukwila from the Seattle mains. Mayor Bergquist stated that he had also had this matter up with Mayor Brown of Seattle and that t.z Las a possibility of securing water from Seattle sometime after the completion of the Lake Youngs Project. A motion was made, seconded and carried approving; action all ready taken. Further action to be held in abeyance pend- ing a reply to a letter to be written by Mayor Bergquist to Mayor Brown. Mr. Lutz appeared before the Council asking that Ordin- ance NO. 70 be read and also asking that it be enforced with reference to certain contemnlated businesses. After some discussion a motion was made, seconded and carried that Ordin- ance No. 70 be enforced. Mr. Cardell appeared and stated that Hillman Boulevard through his property had neect been opened but had been fenced off. This fence is now in bad shape and he desired permission to re- fence and clean out the street area.. TTeticn made, se- conded and carried granting this permission with the proviso that, at any time it should be so decided, tho fence must be taken down and the street revert to the Town of Tukwila. Mr. Harrison called the attention of the Council to cer- tain unsanitary conditions within the Town and on motion reza- larly made, seconded and carved the clerk was instructed tic, notify the parties concerned to clean up said premises.
