HomeMy WebLinkAbout1926-02-11 Regular MinutesThe regular monthly meeting of the Council of the Town of Tukwila was calledto order on the above date by the Mayor at 8.05 P. M. Present were Mayor G. C. Bergquist and Councilmen G. V. Harrison, Fred Nord, E. F. Greene, J. A. Kunz and J. R. Naylor. The minutes of the last regular meeting were read by the Clerk and approved as read. BILLS The following Bills were read by the Clerk and after being approved by the Finance Committee, it was moved, seconded and carried that they be paid and warrants drawn for the respective amounts. CURRENT EXPENSE FUND Puget Sound Power Lt Co Seattle 438.55 Tukwila Grocery Tukwila 5.00 D. A. Newton 10.50 Bill Hammer Foster 13.50 Wm. LaSalle Tukwila 3.00 TOTAL 473.55 Tukwila, Wash. Feb, 11. 1926. COMMUNICATIONS The monthly report of the Town Treasurer was read by the Clerk and ordered placed on file. A communication from the State Highway department disclaim- ing responsibility for the drains beneath the Tacoma highway was read. A letter from the Puget Sound Railway Company requesting permission to delay repairs to the Alley crossing until work now being done by the County at that point in completed. A letter from Treasurer C.P. Jensen resigning his position due to removing his residense from the Town. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES. Street Committee Mr. Harrison, Very little street work done due to inclement weather. Tukwila Boulevard and Warren Ave. in need of gravel, also some drainage work, Main Street also in need of gravel. He advised that the work be done when the weather improved. A. motion was made, seconded and carried au- thorizing the Superintendent of Streets to cumnlete tnit work when in his opitior, conditions warranted and appropriating 483.30 tails purpose. Unfinished Business Mayor Bergquist reported that the street lights were being checked by the Puget Sound Power Light Co. and they would report on same shortly. At the same time they would advise the cost of the additional lights on Bluff Street. The matter of a local paying station wa:.z.tso being inves- tigated by the Puget Sound Power Light Co. w2 2/11/1926. The matter of the repairs to the crossing at the Ailey facing the Bluff was discussed. Action with hell for the present. NEW BUSINESS Mr. Lanastrom asked for a permit to build a cnicken house and garage on Lot 1, Block 6 at the northeast corner. A commit- tee was appointed to investigate and report back at the next meeting. The condition of the sidewalks on Main Street was dis- cussed. Mr. Greene authorizcd the Town to repair those on pis property and charge the cost of same to him. Councilman Nord reported brush growing at tie side of Tuk- wila Boulevard and obstructing traffic. hefered to the Superin- tendent of Streets. Tne resignation of Mr. Jensen was accepted by the Council. Mayor Bergquist announced the appointment of Mrs. M. M. Lutz as treasurer to fill the unexpired portion of Mr. Jensen's term. By motion regularly seconded and carried the Council approved this action. No further business aonearing, the Council adjourned at 0.07 P. 1I.
